  • hahahaha thats funny may i ask why you said and your wife to at the end... because way you said it and waited it was just funny

  • If you're going to have a meerschaum that actually fits in your pipe collection, would it not be an idea to buy yourself a large one? i've got my eye on a couple now, and i have enough money in my bank to buy one, but i'm trying to resist the temptation to do so.

  • still rocking that lighter

o werd, you can find those online some places.

  • Pipe friend chs i decided to stop smoke cigarettes and swicth to a pipe whats a good pipe to get started thanks a lot

  • @bigguns1998 look on ebay for Mario Grandi, peterson or Boswell

  • how is pipe tobacco versus cigarette tobacco as far as how bad it is for you?

  • @alawoo01 cig tobacco has insanely more and worse chemical additives, BOTH are unhealthy

  • i got myself one of the tomahawk pipes. MacQueen makes some really cool ones shaped like those. Check out the Dwarf :) i got myself a wizard

  • jet lighter? not so good for pipes :/

  • i hear a draw, its really loud

  • Cool!

So what is the URL of the Beach Boys vid?

  • oooo you had made a video about it

  • ahhh there it is lol

  • for a pipe enthusiest why arent u using a match?

  • Some tomahawks had a small drilled canal down through the handle to the head and the acorn (the thing that is used to drive nails) was hollowed out so as to be used as a pipe. I believe this information can be found in American Indian Tomahawks, though I wound it in Alex Bealer's The Art of the Blacksmith. (Alex Bealer smoked a pipe...)

  • Very interesting, I never knew that

  • Just for the sake of experimentation you should really try a meerschaum topped gourd calabash. Without a doubt the driest & coolest of all my (over 200) pipes. They do tend to mellow the smoke some, but the good news is tongue bite just doesn't happen. Light VA's bite me badly, but I can smoke them in a gourd calabash without the effect.

  • great vid,,n in defence for meers i would say tht both of them briar and meer share the same features,,including the size tckness and length of the smoke to travel if u combined all these features in both pipe u would definitly appreciate the diffrence as for the time being i cn c why hv u chose large pipes it just fits u thts a punch in the face for those whom says tht pipes r nt made for style n personality choice,,

    cheers

    ahmad

  • I think the coolness of the meerschaum depends as much on the size of the pipe and the thickness of the bowl as on a briar. I have 2 meerschaums - a small one about the size as that in the video and a pretty big one with a heavy, thick bowl. The big one definitely smokes cooler.

Just remember not to let the bowl get too hot - it can affect the coloring, especially if you touch it with your hands when it's hot.

  • I never realized how large your pipes are until you made that comparison. I bought a meerschaum about two weeks ago, and I really can't tell the difference. Mind you I'm also still trying to figure out how to smoke a pipe without it getting too hot...

  • The best thing about meershaum's is that they are good for a quick smoke.

  • I've never smoked a meerschaum pipe, but I hear they are really cooler because meerschaum is a kind of clay, so the bowl is porous. Maybe it's the small size that doesn't make you feel the difference - the pictures I've seen always show larger pipes. Being clay, they are also supposed to be brittle, so one has to be careful. On a sad note, the clay is said to come from only a few mines in Turkey where workers are subject to horrendous working conditions, so maybe meerschaums are not very PC.

  • You can also get Meerschaum in eastern africa. But the turkish meerschaum really is the best. I love my meerschaum pipes and you should try and find out how good it tastes!

  • Well, larshermanns, maybe the pipeman in me could overcome the guilt about the Turkish (or African) miners, but meerschaums are nowhere for sale here in Brazil, and importing one would cost me a fortune. There are too few pipe smokers here and the market is too small to support much choice. I can't even find decent tobacco lately! But who knows, maybe one day...

  • I live in brazil too(Rio de Janeiro), I have find some good places to import tobacco and pipes.

there are some meerschaum pipes (full block from turkey) at a good price. The greatest problem is to get decent tobacco as the customs are aways watching.

  • Pipe Eccentric, you have to send a proper lighter for this man.

  • nice...
