@fatpat1823 These cars are designed so that the non essential pieces take most of the impact. The cars body absorbs the shock of the crash and dissipates it through out it, that's why there is always so much debris after one crashes. With the car itself taking the beating, the driver remains relatively safe and unharmed. Its because of that safety tech, that drivers are able to walk away from accidents like these.
IMO he got too inside the corner... the degree difference made the rear left tyre to loose grip... then... if you take a close look @ 0:25 there's something flying out of the car...
I think the thing flying out of his car may be a tear-off. It came from the cockpit. I also do not think that he got too low. Those cars run below the white line almost the entire race and certainly during qualifying. The banking degree does not change at the white line like at other courses, it is even until you get to the grass. I would imagine they took wing off to increase straight speed and it made it difficult to handle in the corner. That is why he lost grip, lack of downforce.
well he had a front wing. but if you mean they decreased its angle to increase top end speed at the expense of down force then I agree completely. Either that or he downshifted too early and the tires broke loose. But I doubt it was downshifting as that's something only rFactor jockeys like myself do. =D
Yes I am saying they decreased angle to lose downforce. They do this all month until they hit the absolute limit, which they obviously went past. Makes the car rather twitchy, but if you can get it right it will be good for some hot laps.
please, if it happens, nothing or noone could stop it, but since 2005, security on vehicles has serioucly increased, it did already before that though,
Those cars look much safer than the formula1 cars...

Why don't they have servos so the driver can control the airfoil?
Anyway a bi-wing would channel the air more effectively, like thrust vectoring.
Thrust vectoring could be used to improve cornering?

this is why IRL should race on actually race courses, not race ovals because this is what happens, take Gordon Smiley for example

That was a good idea, it was called Champ Car and they are no longer in business.
