  • I love how this video is 4 minutes and 20 seconds :) #420friendsonline The marijuana social network. I'm in the process of learning Mandarin Chinese. This is my source for language development. Makes it simple to learn many languages. languagequest. com/home/pimsleur_with_audio.php?media=Audio&display=grid&sort=0&gclid=COvArcOMwKwCFQmAhwoda0XHpQ Put it back together

  • thank you. very clear and very helpful. my kid is being taught this in his school here in singapore and i was trying to find a video that could help me understand so i can help my son. thanks very much

  • I always heard 2 said as "ah rrr"

  • Thank you very much for your teaching!! I want to learn more of Chinese!

  • great job! Thank you very much!!

  • Your voice is just the cutest >u<! But this is VERY helpful! I am going to an anime convention as China from Hetalia, so I thought learning some Chinese would be nice!

  • @mussie135 You go girl - if you have a dream you should go through with it no matter what the difficulties. Better to Do than Do Not. It will be an interesting 4 years. Sure ye may see this Irish guy walking down a street somewhere in China - just stop and say Howdy!! Good look with your studies and all the best in the coming years.

  • @paulmcmanus21 your so right! :) thanks for the advices... Will do ;)

  • me encantaron tus clases!!! i just love your lessons

  • Thanks, Sophie, you make it sound so simple!

  • your hand gestures differ from the ones i was taught in Beijing!

the gesture you use for 7 i was taught to use for 8.

my gesture for 7 is with thumb and first two fingers squeezed together.

9 is fist clenched except for index finger which is out, curved like a hook.

10 was taught as either the cross you use, or as a single clenched fist.

any idea why this might be the case?

  • Thankyou!!!

  • @yumiilove: Isn't there any word for "0"? I need to learn chinese for work, but every teacher is counting from 1 to 10 without "0".

  • How the hell did she do that hand gesture for nine with such ease? (2:53)

  • @handsdown19

    what's so hard about it?

  • how about beijing?

  • this is helpful thank you so much thank you for these lessons.hope you keep making them.i subscribed.

  • yummilove.....wo ai nii....

  • 十=10

  • im having trouble with four......

  • actually I saw completely different hand signs for numbers 8, 9, 10... I know they differ from region to region... but this is the first time I see the 10 shown with 2 hands

  • You're really good, thanks a lot.

  • WoW what a gorgeous Asian woman, I wish she were my wife, my clown woman fixes me cotton candy for dinner every night and it's starting to get old.

  • thank you for the wonderful lesson

  • this is great:)) thank you so much!

  • nevermind your face, your lessons are helpful :)

  • e er sun s u leo ci ba geo sh ! i got it !

  • every time she says a chinese number, she says it once then the second time she changes the tone a bit...

  • I bet a lot of guys do not really want to learn the lesson, they just want to look at the female teacher. As an Asian guy I must say that Asian women are more welcomed in the West than Asian guys.

  • I think I will stick with Japanese.

  • @VisualXxKei haha....itch ni san she go ruk sitch atch koo ju....i KNOW i spelled those wrong haha

  • You probably helped me increase my score on my Chinese language skill test from 60 % to 80 or 90%. 1st year of Chinese in Leuven, Belgium. Thanks!

  • i want you

  • Chinese is very interesting.. but it's difficult..

  • The video cut off...:(

  • i cant make nine with my hand and i just forgot everything you taught :(

  • @knobor12 you r shit

  • it's nob head, not loser! XD

  • 4 tones fob

  • all the whiteys loving the asian girl, how typical, lol

  • @ecchen1 Probably all the "asians" aswell. Or are you trying to tell me she doesnt look like a model ?

  • you are so hot and beautiful

  • WEW my school teaches us chinese mandarin and i cant hardly learn it.. i fail 2 times in my report card xD..

the easiest is the numbers hahaha..

i know it from 1 to thousand lol

  • nice room. jaja

  • how do you spell them :(

  • The hand gestures are unusual and interesting. I seem to have the most difficulty with with "5". I'd like to see a video where "5" is repeated multiple times. Also, using "5" in different pitches and tones and at varied intervals might be helpful too. Never mind, a friend just recommended a video titled "XXX". I'll check it out. Thanks for the video.

  • there is actually 4 tones not 5!

  • i used to speak mandarin coz i worked in taiwan for a year...it's very important to learn mandarin when you are in their country because most of them cant speak or understand english.

  • i give you a shi

oh and ur nose is red.

  • i, er, san, ss, uh, leo, chi, bah, chioo, sch

now I know why you people always seem to smile. :-))

  • @bluebaker1980

    the actual spellings are: yi(1st tone), er(4th tone), san(1st tone), si(4th tone), wu(3rd tone), liu(4th tone), qi(1st tone), ba(1st tone), jiu(3rd tone), shi(2nd tone)

your way to spell them obviously helps you to pronounce them more easily in short terms but if you do wanna learn chinese properly then you have to learn the chinese spellings as well as the words

  • you are so hot. gonna learn chinese now!!!!

  • mandarin chicken!!!!

    ftw!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ni Hao, Wo ziao Jhun, that's all I know. lol . I love watching you....I mean your videos. lol

  • am i the only one having trouble with the hand sign for nine?

  • @sindrole It's impossible for me too!

  • Hi Sophie, can u make a video on gases? For example, oxygen is 氧氣. So what is the translation for nitrogen, helium, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, neon, hydrogen, argon, krypton, xenon, radon and ammonia gas?

  • what a babe.

  • @zomgpwnage WHAT A SLUt@!

  • Love these lessons but in case I or someone didn't post this before, it's "pronunciation" not "pronounciation."

  • i try to focus on te lesson but i can t ,i loosing in the eyes and smile : )

    too difficult language btw,five tons?????

  • To be honest I 5 starred this video even though it was muted the entire time,

    and,

Uhhh.. yes okay now I listened to it hehe

It is confusing because in Beijing they told me there is 4 tones,

    and,

my teacher does pronounce it a little different but possibly this is just 'regional pronunciations'

    Anyways.. very good thanks!

  • 5那个音发的不准

  • oh yeah i agree with you

  • @1985damaha

    its correct in fact.

    Kinda southern

  • Firstly, u look so pretty that I get glued to your lessons. Secondly ur lessons are so well planned that I learn a lot. thnx

  • Thanks for the lessons. Muchas gracias.

  • @Minimi130291 not even close

  • W/e dude, it is my native language...

    Peace :)

  • you're hot I can tell you : )

  • hi ! do you learning for skype ?

  • The similarity between Ancient Tibetan and Antiquity Chinese (Warring States period) also proves the Sino-Tibetan language family. Japanese and Korean are isolated languages, they are not Sino-Tibetan, but they were strongly influenced by Antiquity and Middle Age Chinese. Mongolian and Tungus are Altaic.

  • Japanese copied Middle Age Chinese from Tang Dynasty, here is the prove:

1 to 10 in Middle Age Chinese:

iet ni sam sjiih ngo liuk tshet pat kju zjip

    1 to 10 in Japanese:

ichi ni san si go loku shichi/nana hachi kju ju/zipu

  • ichi ni san SHI/yon go ROKU shichi/nana hachi KYUU JYUU

  • @xXxWatashidesuxXx Lol. Japanese! :) Why?

    this is mandarin chinese? lool

  • @Rokshii somebody said the numbers in Japanese were the wrong spellings.

  • and exactly who cares????

  • wahid ethnayn thalatha arba kamsa sita saba thamaneya tessssa ashhra

    numbers 1-10 arabic

  • 1-10 romanian

unu doi trei patru cinci sase sapte opt noua zece

    1-10 japanese

ichi ni san shi/yon go roku shichi/nana hatch kyu jyu

  • Thanks a lot for your lesson it helps me a lot.

But, can it be that the "hand letters" are used in different ways? For ex. whatever I do I can`t show the nine. Instead I found something with the forefinger as a hook :-).

  • Numbers in Ancient Tibetan:

gjig njis gsuum bzhi nga rug bdun brgyad gu ju

  • Numbers from 1-10 in Antiquity Chinese during the period of Warring States 473BC-221BC:

qlig njis suum hjids nga rug snihd preed gu djup

  • Numbers from 1 to 10 in Middle Age Chinese during the period of Tang Dynasy 618AD-907AD:

iet ni sam sjiih ngo liuk tshet pat kju zjip prak cen man jek

  • my fingers hurts when i have to do 8 hehe

  • Ahhh!

    I miss taking Chinese class.

I still remember most of the stuff.

    This brings back good memories.

  • this is sooo hard....and you are soo beautiful...

  • she is hoottttt

  • OMG when she says Pa!

  • she is so pretty

  • will you marry me Sophie?

  • you´re so cute señorita Sophie :)

  • You cross your fingers when you say ten... because the Chinese character for "ten" is also a cross character...

  • Aghhh, thank you thank you thank you for this video! x3 I've been playing Mah Jong with my Mandarin-speaking friends and they've been teaching me to count the numbers on the tiles... I thought I was doing all right until one of them said "Wow, I actually understood you that time!" xDDD You make the tones very easy to hear in this video, even though it does cut off at the end.

  • Cantonese is much difficult, I think..

But it'll be easier after you learn Chinese(Potonghua) =P

    I love Cantonese

  • i am from canton........the "8" and "9" signs are different in cantonese, btw the "9" sign she shows is a little bit difficult

  • thx thx thx thx so much

  • i think the other comments are right some of the stuff you said is wrong cause im learning chinese and some of the proncations are different....

  • You are smart and very beautiful<3

  • im learning a different sign language... and pronounciation

  • hmm some of these tones for the numbers is pronounce different from what i heard from other mandarin teacher... but which one is right? bah :( im confuse...

  • Are you sign language too, right? I am using ASL and Brazilian sign language.

  • My 5 yr old son attends a language school and he can't pay attention for longer than 30 seconds. This helps a lot, thank you so much!

  • i lived in Shanghai and Suzhou for a couple of years and your hand signals are not correct. they do 1-6 and 10 the same as what you showed, but they have different ways of doing 7-9. 7 is a pinching motion between your thumb and index finger, 8 is what you said was 7, and 9 is too hard to describe but you make a fist and raise your index finger while keeping it somewhat curled

  • wow in Singapore and in my school, everybody dreads chinese lessons....it seems interesting to know that so many people like chinese...加油 everyone!! 加油 means good luck in chinese :)

  • And, also. Thanks!! You are great teacher, and, very pretty!!!

  • thanks for the lessons, I'm trying to learn Chinese and it's proving to be a challenge but surprisingly fun ;)

  • i like the sing songiness of mandarin

  • I´m learning chinese yumiilove, it´s a very interesting languaje, it´s difficult, but great! I´m in second level, I can speak, but not too much. Thank´s for the videos! You are very beautiful!!! ;)
