Thanks for showing that last one. I have a habit of avoiding anything that involves a lot of writting, so it required you showing something I could not do in my head (like I did with the first 2 in about 2 seconds each) in order to get me to actually think I might use this at some point.
Yes, this is an awesome method, however I came across two numbers that got me. 52 and 26. Using this method I keep getting "2" as being my GCF when the answer is "26". Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks
@ksluder From 52 and 26 you take out a 2, and have 26 and 13 left. You can take 13 out of both of those numbers. Multiply the 2 and the 13 and you get 26.

You can also do this for the LCM, all you have to do is multiply everything and not just the nos. on the sides :)
