  • the worst thing about being born in 1990 was not discovering the Ramones till after they broke up and not seeing Joey play live. You are my favorite musician and hope you are looking down to see how successful you are and that you will always have been in the greatest band to ever walk the face of the earth.

  • Joey and ALL members of the Ramones should have gotten this award years ago. I've been a fan since I was 16 now I'm 48 and still a punk, but a little more professional. I've been blessed to have been to Hollywood Forever Cemetary and had my picture taken at Johnny's memorial; the time's past and present I'll alwaycherish and remember.

  • I started listening to the ramones after listening to the BEATLES and soon realized that this were the BEST bands ever!! That Johnny was a fucking republican!! LONG LIVE JOEY IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER!! JOEY, DEEDEE AND JOHNNY: REST IN PUNK THE THREE OF YOU!

  • the godfather of punk, i hope he's rocking in the sky with hendrix, cobain, lennon, joplin and all of the greatest

  • Thank you for sharing this! I'm glad they did this for him. R. I. P. Joey. Love you man!

  • i'm so glad they gave joey the respect he deserved :)

  • My speech appears to have been, somehow, immensely truncated, as were Tommy and Johnny's speeches at the original ceremony, as broadcast on tv. My name [and their subsequent manager] Gary Kurfurst's name were omitted from the telecast of the event. Most distressing; one wishes for some graciousness out there.

  • Somebody probably had to edit the video for youtube - you can't upload anything longer than ten minutes. The whole clip seems edited for time, so, I'm sure it wasn't intentional.

  • Silly me.

Page Six of the vile New York Post edits for space, and as the "hottest" --alas-- gossip column in this country, Page Six seems to have focussed on the point I was trying to make. So did the NY Observer web site. I suppose no two cutting room floors have the same content..

  • god damn idiots. now they need to get CJ and Richie in there.

  • Richie was the fastest drummer the Ramones ever had, lowering the average concert time by about 2 minutes, which is amazing when your talking about the Ramones. and CJ may not have been as good as Dee Dee, but he still was in the band for the last albums, right?

  • They were all ramones, they all helped ramones legacy, therefore they should all be recognized

  • indeed

  • Cj, no! CJ just fucked everything up! He was too young. Ritchie, if he didnt go all money whore then yes.

  • yeah Richie did get money whoreish.... but with CJ they went back to more of a traditional punk sound really

  • I just think he was too new... no one could do better than Dee Dee. I wouldnt of minded CJ if he didnt take Dee Dee's "1-2-3-4"

  • well of course no one could do it better then Dee Dee

  • A wrong that was righted, i'm glad that there's a video of this and thank you for posting this.

  • Thanks for putting this up.
