Something of a departure for Gordon Lightfoot at the time. We were, and still are, used to seeing Gordon write all of his songs on his own. Here, David Foster wrote the music and Gordon wrote all the words. A bigger, fuller arrangement, also. It works well. The tune is good, but it is Gordon's words that make this a GREAT song. It should have been a massive hit single, but it never quite made it. Still a great song.
I first heard this song in the mid 80's and it touched my heart and soul. Thank you Gordon for your incredible musical artistry and ability to capture the essence of all that is precious, emotionally moving and soul stirring. Thank you for being my favorite artist for all time.
There is NOTHING that Gord does that isn't outstanding. This awesome tune is so indicative of his personal love life. Treasure this man for what he has dedicated to the world of music. He is not well and may not be with us much longer. That day, when it comes, I'll sadly have lost a good friend and brother. Please Gord..live forever. If I could give him 5 years of my life just to hear ONE more song, it would be my ecstatic pleasure.
Interesting mix... I am much more used to hearing air-throated tenors singing to David Foster songs but Gordon Lightfoot's warm baritone suits his production surprisingly well
One his many that can reach in and take you soul...... I Love his Music

Thank you John. Even though I own a lot of Gordon's music, I'd never heard this wonderful song before.
