This is cool! I have to ask, how come you don't seem to gain any experience while sniping the deathclaws? Were you at the highest level when you shot this video?

Also what were your SPECIAL stats? You already mentioned both Luck and Agility were at 10, but what about the rest of your SPECIAL stats?

okay, so I tried this with guns 100 and 6 strength, yet the crosshairs were all over the place. I did use cheats (re-allocated special, minused one area and added to strength), so am I never going to have full accuracy?

I prefer the Hunting Rifle, When fully modified it's a very stable platform for long-range sniping and overall combat. In fact, the increased magazine size of the fully upgraded hunting rifle coupled with the higher damage per shot, faster reload speed and very high durability make it a viable, if not better alternative than the standard sniper rifle and its unique variant. It also has the most magnified scope of any sniper rifle when the scope modification is attached...

This is a perfect reason why the Dead Money add-on nerfed the Sniper Rifle DRASTICALLY. Now the Sniper Rifle and it's unique cousin Gobi Campaign Rifle are pretty useless against Deathclaws.

Now the Anti-Materiel Rifle is top dog of the Sniper Rifle category, as it should be...

As for the mods being attached, look at ur weapon in the pip-boy. At the top-right you will see the controls, one of them saying mod. You can eventually find the silencer from the gun runners.

@jibdee Not really. If you tried that at Deathclaw Promontory using the tactics in the video it'd make so much noise they'd detect you and you'd be dead. A suppressed Sniper Rifle with .308 JSP rounds only has 17 less base damage than an AMR with .50 MG Incendiary rounds AND it has a 5x crit multiplier compared to the 1x of the AMR. This means you can get around a 100% crit rate with the Sniper Rifle compared to just 20% with the AMR.

@romeolongsword You have a lot of room to work with as a Sniper. The four key areas are ST (base 5 +1 implant), PE (base 5 +1 implant), AG (base 8, +1 small frame, +1 implant), LK (base 9 +1 implant). You'll also want 4 EN minimum for those 4 implants. This leaves you with 13 points to distribute among IN, CH, and EN (or if you take Weapon Handling at 16 then you could set base ST to 3 so you could have 2 more free points). I prefer high IN since you can get by with 1 CH (and 4 EN) just fine.

@romeolongsword That's what I ended up doing too on my sniper. AG and LK ended up not being worth much since I always got sneak attacks at long range. It was still nice as a backup for close range fighting.

You need a silenced sniper rifle. The gobi is not silenced, and thus the deathclaws will hear you.

I did the Promontory with the YCS/186 It took around half an hour since almost all the deathclaws were clustered around the power armor bodies. I had to hide on a ridge across from them and carefully pick them off. It was probably the most epic moment in the game /8(*> Took way higher ground than you though

@100nitrog i have a sniper build 100% crit. 1 shot kill deathclaws ever. sniper build its so poweful but you need to forget speech, barter, and other skills like those and focus just in firepower, agility and luck... this rocks but sometimes you get tired to fail absolutly all speech and hack system. :) Cheers.

Gun runners have the silencer too, but it randomly appears in stock or not. Just check back every couple of in-game days, eventually it'll show up.
