he's good as ben. but he doesn't sound that much like shrek. i've heard other audios of him and i prefer his BBBW to this, but even then, it sounds like him, not like shrek. when i heard brian, i swore it was the movie. it was so weird. not to say ben is bad. he's REALLY good and he'll be a GREAT replacement, but i can see why they chose brian..

His voice doesn't have the same smoothness as Brian's does. But he is very very good. I saw this show in June with Brian as Shrek and loved every moment of it. I think Ben will do the role justice though :)

I think thats part of the reason i prefer him as shrek actually Shrek needs to be a "gruff" character and even though he really is a goy guy he still needs power and a little Brusqueness in his voice

I think the roughness adds another layer to the character that Brian lacks simply because he has a (as you said) smother voice. I personally think Ben's voice fits the role better.

im the leader of the inofficial german ben crawford fan club ;) I've known him since 04 and loved him since then :) his voice is amazing and im soo glad, he got the chance of being the lead on a broadway production!! Go Ben!!

when i saw shrek he was shrek i havnt seen brian but from the soundtrack to the show i would have to say ben crawford has a much better voice than brian
