  • SPECTACL ! Salute from Serbia.

  • I love this...the first time I heard it was way before internet, I had visions of hordes of Germanic armies sweeping into battle...it sounded like a kick ass battle song...then I looked up the translation...ha, not so much...but the first impression will always stick with me.

  • where are you?

  • żenada, co to w ogóle było? tani show, a Carl Orff wcale nie był geniuszem...

  • How i hate André Rieu... Carl Orff was a true genius though.

  • @SWAGGAboy181 That wasn't a well-played troll. I saw right through your ass. Next time, try saying that some new, but crappy classical artist is better. Coming off as sincere is the key bro. You were just all over the place.

  • Koji je jezik na kome pevaju i moze li se dobit prevod ?

  • @Boldrikification peva na latinskom. Doduse ne verujem da ima prevod na ovaj nas :)

  • @Boldrikification It is latin language, madieval latin. O Fortune, variable as the moon, always dost thou wax and wane. Detestable life, first dost thou mistreat us, and then, whimsically, thou heedest our desires. As the sun melts the ice, so dost thou dissolve both poverty and power. Monstrous and empty fate, thou, turning wheel, art mean, voiding good health at thy will. Veiled in obscurity, thou dost attack me also. To thy cruel pleasure I bare my back.
  • @Boldrikification And the end: Thou dost withdraw my health and virtue; thou dost threaten my emotion and weakness with torture. At this hour, therefore, let us pluck the strings without delay. Let us mourn together, for fate crushes the brave.

  • My dad use to play classical music to me when i was a kid and listening to rap like nelly, ludacris, ja rule etc. i remember him saying the music i listen to is stupid i told him the same thing but then he said "If not for this kind of music you would have your kind of music" lol. i realise the truth in it now that im older lol. CLASSICAL MUSIC IS THE SH*T lol

  • epic

  • This is the theme song to the end of the world

  • this song makes me wanna pick up an axe and run round killing people

  • @ScouserLegend That is idiotic. This song is about being subject to the whimsy and tides of fate/fortune. Hence the opening line

"O fortuna, vet luna" (might have a word wrong) means "O fortune, like the moon" saying that fortune, much like the moon is ever changing, waxing and waning. I suggest you look up the translation for the song at the very least. Plus, to me it makes much more sense as being about fortune rather than homicide.

  • @CaptainSpellingError And I could give a shit why? go fuck yourself before i kill you with the axe i just bought

  • @ScouserLegend What are you, fourteen? What a horrid retort.

  • @CaptainSpellingError Whats the point of trying to impress you with my grammar skills? you completely misunderstood my comment so there's actually no point in trying to correct you. So like I said before go fuck yourself.

  • @ScouserLegend Where is the fu**in' like button for your comment

  • @ScouserLegend Your "grammar skills" are of no importance here. They are irrelevant to everything, so there is that. You still make very childish comments and retorts.

  • Why doesn't he put his violin down, as a conductor he could put so much more emotion into this song.

  • @sxcboi036 Amen

  • عفوا الفوتشوب اي اصدار...لانه طالع رهيب !

  • No one should have anything to say about this but amazing if you have something bad to say shame on you ..in this mad world of music and I was a disco girl ..

  • Fantastic! The audience seems like dead?

  • @m5rule why would they clap their hands to interrupt this music? its classic, not a rock concert after all ;)

  • @1wing1 Obviously i didn´t mean during the performance. Somehow i just felt, that the audience sits, like watching a commercial. Just my feeling.

  • super...

  • this is amazing!

  • The great Andre' Rieu !!!!!

  • stupendo

  • BELLISSIMO

  • It's so amazing, I love it

  • @ricogoldstar snobs???? What's up with that and plus iPods have nothing to do with is all that they do is hold the music for us and let us play games and it's not our fault that your parents didn't introduce you to this type of music and just so you know this song is a CHIRCH CHIAR hinting also by all the people is the back with a cross around there necks

  • @LJMARA12 My father introduced me to classical music when I was young. I didn't appreciate it at 1st, as I was too distracted by what the modern world had to offer. The classical music industry was dying, until creative and innovative people found new ways to introduce and "hook" new, younger listeners. 2001/2010 A Space Odyssey, Star Wars, Star Trek, LOTR, Conan, The Diva Dance Opera are just a few examples. In order to keep new listeners interested, new ways to present classics are needed.

  • The female singers were drowned out by the rest of the ensemble.

  • Like it or not Opera SNOBS, it is modern interpretive performances like this that are keeping the genre ALIVE! It takes effort to vie for the short attention span of the ipod generation. The use of classical music in televsion and Big Budget Hollywoood productions also keep classical music on the maps. Hell, as a child, I didn't even know about orchestral/operatic music until I saw Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry perform it. Don't hate, appreciate the method.

  • @ricogoldstar Opera SNOBS like to forget that opera originally were (yeah, WERE, it's a plural noun) pop music pieces, and audiences not only clapped, but cheered and BOOED at performances if they were inspired to do so. Stravinski was nearly run out of town after Rite of Spring debuted.

  • @TheGrumpiestOldMan STRAVINSKY, I know, I can't type.

  • @TheGrumpiestOldMan That's right. Exactly!

  • @TheGrumpiestOldMan That's right. Exactly!

  • @TheGrumpiestOldMan Plus if you read classics, you will also see that most of them went to opera to gossip, meet each other, to see who bring who and they were talking to each other during the performance, went to see each other. Plus being late was kind of a good tone)))

  • Why is he conducting? And he is not even conducting it right...

  • @ElvinD15 He is highly professional and does the conducting more than well. It can look like he doesn`t but he is! :) Amazing show and this is the best version I have ever heard.

  • Kto wie, gdzie był ten niesamowity koncert. dreszcze............

  • @szubertkaLPS I think the same.

  • Such a hideous performance of an otherwise stunning masterpiece...

  • @jarbear

Opinions are like assholes: everyone got his own.

'Easier' to enjoy than traditional interpretations, but only pseudo-elitist snobs can find it contemptible.

  • @jarbear Could you explain why?

  • @coolguy0632 Listen to the beginning. It sounds like a MIDI played on Windows Media Player. Then... the "soloists" (seven of them)? This is supposed to be for a big choir, individual voices shouldn't be distinguishable. It just bothers me too much being able to listen to the expresion and emotionless dudes singing. Don't get me wrong, "O Fortuna" is pretty much meant to be sung without expresion, that's why individual voices shouldn't be so upfront.

    Also, fireworks.

  • @jarbear What a sad comment! Seven solists? I watched a few times and could only find 6! Great music! Without performances like this, classical music would have died!

  • @lincsposter Well, my bad. Carmina Burana isn't supposed to have soloists in the "O Fortuna" section, if I remember correctly. Soloists are introduced in later movements. Now... do you want to listen to a real Carmina Burana performance? Listen to Robert Shaw's version with the Atlanta choir and symphony.

  • @jarbear So? You clearly live in the dark ages where no one will diviate from the original! Sad! This is epic! And a modern version! André Rieu is single handedly keeping classical music alive for the masses.

  • Can someone please tell me where this concert was?!

  • @mlr2107 in Maastricht, Netherlands

  • potente y con mucha fuerza

  • 2:44 face!! epic!! hahaha

  • I hear this in my head when I take a massive dump

  • Magnífico! Me hace llorar de la emoción!

  • Ata Jew comment from cra.. something, crackhead maybe

  • @eerojuhani1 whats that? I'm just tired of the stupid comments of some people. They're useless. I wanted to give some details then nobody has to insult nobody.

We do not need anti-Semitics like you.

And if you knew my origins you'd understand that I "could be" against Jews like you, but I just don't have enough time to hate anybody in this world. So, keep being racist and enjoy your life full of hatred :-)

  • Hahaha do people really need to find every stupid comments in their minds?

Yes, Carl Orff did let his Jewish friend and his wife, probably because he was scared. Nazis lose their mind when you speak about any Jewish people. Anyway he wrote a regret letter afterwards because of his guilt.

Plus, nazis did like his compositions, but he didnt make them like it!!!!

Finally, the main language here is the Latin, with some very old French and German. It comes froma book of the early Middle-Age.

  • @crapoglu let his jewish friend and wife do what?

  • @hapibth0pel3ss : being killed.

  • @crapoglu ?

  • @hapibth0pel3ss Is my English that bad? Anyway let it go it doesnt matter

  • @crapoglu no its just you said being killed and im like confused cause i didnt no were that came from lol but okay..

  • @hapibth0pel3ss read about Carl Orff you will understand ;-)

  • That s why I like Orff's masterpieces even more! Heinrich Himmler

  • Orff: one of the nazis' favorite composers. He let several of his Jewish "friends" die in the hands of the nazis, while they begged him to help them.

  • "saw some wookies, great big wookies, they've come to maul darth vader!"
