Actually, it is not 3D software/rendering exercise. It is mathematical visualization. It is not machine science project neither 3D geek stuff.

It's just a 3D modeling exercise people. Doesn't matter if it's possible or not.
The main purpose is probably an exercise in usage of the 3D rendering program.

I don't think this is possible since all of the gears have no support so gravity would make it fall apart.
Awesome Moebius Gear animation though! +1

this is wonderful, truly inspiring. Did you come up with this idea of combining gears with topology ie the Moebius strip?

There's no spindles through the centres of any cogs. It'd all fall to bits if it were real.
feralferret 5 months ago 5
@feralferret it does not need to have spindles right in the centre. Look at these: /watch?v=K4YmVP6i4qw

@RedgardH Yes, but, nothing is holding these cogs up. They're floating in mid air, unsupported by anything.
feralferret 4 months ago
@feralferret it's a CGI! As an engineering stunt and curiosity thing it could be done, I don't see a problem with it. Search for "hubless wheels"
@RedgardH I know it's CGI (being a 3D modeller myself), I'm talking about those who say it would work in reality. You would need individual support for each of the cogs, both for retaining their positions and for counteracting gravity.

@feralferret "you'd need individual support for each of the cogs"
erm... isn't that obvious? that's what I meant from the beginning
@feralferret yes but the theory behind it is completely solid.

It can be GIF. I made it long time ago, but I can remember that it was loop animation so, why not (animated) GIF.

is there a .gif for this?

it may look good, but whats the actual point in it?

@rossyallen2
the point is actually very educational and inspiring for people with expanded perception of material reality. just saying
Awesome ^^ Is it possible to create this in real life?

The only tough thing would be to find a use for it, possibly art, good work man.

totally possible. just have to make split rings

@DayLight95 Or you could 3d-print the whole thing. Including radar-mounting things, to keep the wheels in place :)

Yes. Why not?

is this really possible?
TolitsTube 2 years ago
Perhaps. Structurally it's feasible... although forming it in metal would be a pain in the trash!
Driving it... not sure how'd you pull that off.
