Debt ceilings are constantly being increased, this is nothing new. Yeah, unemployment in the US is high, but there are so many more factors in that - like discouraged workers. Fact of the matter is that US companies are still thriving just fine. The ones that going under were already destined to before the recession; it was just the final push.
