I have the utmost respect for Sheriff Joe Arpaio, on another note. Until 10 yrs ago, I lived in lower-income areas. 90% of every one around me had guns illegaly & I could've found a gun within minutes for just $50!! It's not the same as being a cop. A cop can get away with shooting someone, a "citizen" most times can not.

As to whether or not concealed carry effects crime, it certainly reduces the Fear of Crime. I personally like the ideas of open carry and nationwide permits. When i was the victim of violent crime, i did not have a weapon nor CCW at the time (wish i did though). I'm a veteran, criminal justice student and Democrat.

An old saying still remains previlent today, 'If you outlaw guns then only outlaws will have guns'. Until 10 yrs ago, I lived in lower-income areas. 90% of every one around me had guns illegaly & I could've found a gun within minutes for just $50!! I think there should be a national concealed carry permit for the U.S. Further, even though I am Canadian, I would feel much safer if i was allowed to carry anywhere I had to. I don't know why gun laws are so strict n some states (NY for example) versus Vermont or Arizona to name a couple.

As to whether or not concealed carry effects crime, it certainly reduces the Fear of Crime. I personally like the ideas of open carry and nationwide permits. When i was the victim of violent crime, i did not have a weapon nor CCW at the time (wish i did though). I'm a veteran, criminal justice student and Democrat.

What does he care? That LA Country Sheriff has his gun, and will have one when he retires. He and his family are protected. Who wants to live in Commiefornia? These LEOs are eat up with the dumba@@. I retired as a LEO and I'm all in favor of law abiding citizens being able to carry concealed if they want to. If I needed help when I was sworn I would have been grateful if someone saved my butt if my weapon went out of service. These 2 idiots that run the Sheriff's office and PD must have some hidden strings that someone keeps pulling on. I like Sheriff Joe, he's a smart man.

I would support a national license, but am affraid that it would fall victim to the federal government itself. Once in federal hands gun laws would be very ristrictive IMO. Government has a tendency to over regulate everything.

in my oppion gun control is great i mean if u dont use one hand u may not hit the target as well as if u were using 2 hands. as for conceal carry. i live in texas because of the military and my home state is ohio, so by god i have my ccw andi will use it if i deam the situation nessecary. but i feel it is a last resort. but i am deffinatly not sacred to put one in the head 2 to the chest.

Lets get something clear, law enforcement officials carry firearms first and foremost for their own protection, public safety is incidental, they have NO duty to protect you from harm, try sueing a LEO or the agency he or she work for, if they fail or refuse to protect you or a loved one from grevious harm (remember Columbine, an action akin to a firefighter refusing to fight fire lest they suffer harm in the commission of their jobs).
