Then write the phrase "Belief in God" somewhere in that circle. Now draw a few little stick people around those words within that circle. Now, notice the space outside of that circle, that makes up the rest of your paper. When you tell yourself that its impossible not to believe in god(s), does the space outside of the circle disappear?

If I have a belief system, it is that as humanity progresses through time it learns more about the circumstances that brought the universe, the earth and humans into being, and that the new discoveries we make are to be appreciated as they come in. Any claim that we have been given specific information about these questions from an external and supernatural source have to be treated with a great deal of skepticism. You don't use logic or rationale in your argument. Atheists don't have a specific belief system, a cosmology, or "grip" on reality. I'm an atheist who is a libertarian likes the philosophical tenets of Buddhism. I have a friend who is atheist and thinks Buddhism is a bunch of "hipster crap", and is a neoconservative republican. hmm, interesting. i guess in this sense i am an athiest, i don't believe in a god that communicates with us, or that we can even comprehend it. i believe in souls, in something after this life, but not in any group religion. Group religion seems to much like a control system and i don't believe it's possible for there to be a god that made us in its image, or only made this planet with life, or had a child who was it with a virgin and then he died for our sins. @kberka: Incorrect. The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals made that ruling and it has been challenged and then clarified. The court ruled that just as prison must allow religious groups to form "study gtoups", so must they allow groups based on non-religious activities. They made that ruling to keep inmates from forming random and frivolous "study groups" just for the lulz. Ayheism is related to religion the same way any two opposites are.

I'm not a Christian and not an Atheist. I agree that we all have a "God" of one form or another Atheist or not. I don't think that all Athests necessarily have the same "God." Where I think Atheists are right on is in that seem to believe that people should have thier own individual religions. People should figure it out for themselves. That's why it's so self-defeating for them to lump themselves into this category of "Atheist."
