  • TAIJI is soooooooooo handsome.........

  • RIP TAIJI

  • ese solo de guitarra esta mucho mejor que el que tocan

  • the most match bassisst TAIJI !!

  • TOSHI & YOSHIKI IS SOOOOOOO ENERGETIC IN ALL THEIR LIVE PERFORMANCES!!!!!

i wonder where they got that such of energy....

  • @asshemey05

    Yoshiki's a drama queen.

    Toshi is just cool. :)

    I love Taiji, he's the best. :D

  • yeah, Toshi & Taiji are cool!!!

    Yoshiki is beautifool...XD

  • in fact, imo, taiji was the best at singing in english. all u need to do is to listen to him singing in rose of pain. from his enunciation, you can't tell he's japanese.

  • @aloozer

Yeah, they made a big mistake letting go of Taiji.

Typical, Yoshiki kicks him out because he doesn't agree. Really, Taiji was on the right track in keeping X metal.

Dahlia is dribble compared to Vanishing Vision, in my personal opinion. I cannot stand that synthesis new age techno shit in almost every song on Dahlia.

  • it's just that the way to go is commercialisation. i understand from your point of view, from a devout metal fan, staying on course to continue playing metal is the way to go, but can't go far as far as their genre is concerned. that's why probably they went commercialised.

  • @aloozer

Can't go far? They were already the most successful, best selling band in Japan by 1992, way before 'going commercial'.

They would have still been multi millionaires even if they didn't take Dahlia in the same direction, in my opinion.

  • they can't go far if they were to stay 'metal metal metal'. to be honest, their music isn't even similar to dream theater's(an example of a band that plays metal all the way and are famous). i'm not saying they suck, i'm saying it's because of the genre they play that it's better to go commercial.

  • @aloozer

Can't go far? They already were going far before Taiji left the band, mate. And their 'commercialism' never allowed them to break into the international market (apart from other regions of asia), so your argument is completely redundant.

It doesn't matter that their music is not similar to dream theater. There are plenty of metal bands that are highly successful. Iron Maiden, Metallica, Kamelot, Grave Digger, Kalmah. All have different styles, but earn money.

    Learn it.

  • like I said, xjapan's repertoire isn't exactly the same as the bands you mentioned. so it's not apples-to-apples comparison. it's easier for them if they had done what they had done, going commercial. they were well-received also because of them being able to play a wide repertoire of music ranging from hard to soft, fast to slow. that's the key. you need to spend some time and think about it. the bands you mentioned don't get the exposure that well-known bands do & i dont mean underground ones.

  • the reason why they never broke into international market in a big way has to do with the medium language of they music they create and show to the world. it takes time. but now they're making inroads into the usa, slowly. they recently went to perform at nyc and all and what with their future plans to do concerts at venues in america. you'll see.

  • @aloozer

Yeah thats true, because of singing in their native tongue.

I don't think the music genre so much is to blame on lack of international success. Definitely the japanese vocals and, let's face it, English that you can hardly even understand without a lyrics reference. And their visual style around this time. Problem is, they were about a decade too late with the whole 'glam' thing.

Loudness was snapped up in the US fast. That's because you can actually understand their English.

  • @mrgrazzt

No insult intended for X fans. I love them...but really, some of their 'english' isn't great at all. I'm not complaining, after all I can't speak a word of Japanese.

  • they started commercialism in 1989. Do you think that songs like Feels Damage, No Connexion, or break the Darkness would be accepted by the record company? ABSOLUTLEY NOT.

  • any person who finds heath better then Taiji, simply says so based on look and not on actual talent. its pretty much true. they suck at denying it.

  • was this from 1990?

  • I believe it's earlier than 1990. most likely 1989.

  • Taiji's voice is so great!

  • hide's great voice at 1:09!!!!

  • He is Taiji.

    Not Heath.

  • lol dude its Taiji

  • Love this vid it shows a time when X-Japan were fucking badass!

  • Hey guys, When did you know about X and how big is X in your countries?

Which countries are you guys from? I'm just wondering, cos I'm Japanese and love & grew up with X since 1989. X became bigger and bigger so quickly in Japan at that time and now they are legend. X became known to the other

countries because of the film "SAW IV"?

  • Hi yogamakoto.

I'm from America and I've been an X/hide fan for about 7 years now. I know a lot of people who are not Japanese and have been fans for a while but that is because of the internet. However, they are not too famous here. I think many people have heard of their name but don't know their music. Anyway, I hope that Saw IV will help them gain more fans out side of Japan.

  • Thanx a lot! yeah i agree. there are many good bands in the world but there are only a few that

actually touch & shake our spirits. i like every song but I.V. is just amasing... well come back X!

  • I'm from México, and i'm X fan for 10 Years, many of my friends are fans to, and i know much more people for around here that likes to. I just love it since the moment i heart one song of them.

  • i'm from Scotland, i was only jsut told about x japan but i have some friends who've been into them for a good few years, they fucking kik ass

  • I've known X since 6 years ag. Though they aren't popular around here they are popular between me and my friends. I'm from Canada and I'm really hoping SAW IV will make them popular all around so I can see them live here in Canada

  • Well, I'm from Australia, and I am a fan of heavy metal. X is known very well worldwide by metal fans; they've influenced a lot of other bands and are definately one of the most talented.

Almost no one in Australia has heard of X, but a lot of my friends - who are into metal like I am - know them very well. =D

  • @yogamakoto I learned about X from another obscure band where the lead singer sang at the hide memorial summit in 2004. The first two songs I heard were Endless Rain and Vanishing Love

  • @yogamakoto The song "IV" came as one of the free downloads if you bought Rockband 2 bandkit so I know that several people know about them from that. Personally I had been listening to them for a very long time before I realized they had stuff in "SAW IV". Most of my Jrock stuff has been discovered either via friends or internet.

  • @yogamakoto shutup kid. you started know x japan just yesterday.

I teach you what X JAPAN is.

    Get a life,Fake.

  • 懐かしすぎ!ヒデかっこいい!

  • taiji's bass playing is so hot!! wonder what X would have been like if he didn't leave.

  • Better, to say the least. I'm not a big fan of Heath, really. Taiji's back-up singing is great too.

  • TAIJIカッコイイ。。。。

  • If thats Hide doing the backup, he has an amazing voice.

  • Its Taiji for this recording and hide for most others.

  • Actually it's both but mainly hide.

  • TAIJIIIIIIIIII<3

  • God...I farking love this. Missed them loads... R.I.P hide kun.

  • WOW! GREAT PERFOMACE! I love the guitar solo that started at 02:00!!! Incredible! WEEKEND~~~~I'm at my wits end!!!

  • X JAPAN RULEZ!

  • HIDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE <3

  • Im at my wits end, WEEK END

  • i love how he did week end in the end

  • Pretty sweet, although doesn't compare to their performance at Bakuhatsu ^^

do you have any other older X vids?

  • I have several on DVD and I have a couple more ripped that I will be uploading soon.

  • Ooooooohhh!!! nice. Anything pre-hide/pata/taiji lineup? I'm particularly interested in the 1985-6 era which produced the legendary Orugasumu EP ^^ since Jun (Hisashi Takai) IS one of my favorite japanese guitarists hehe ^-^

  • That I do not have. That would be a real rarity but since I'm pretty much a hide fan, I never even thought of looking for that stuff, not that I could find it if I did. I would love to see that myself.

  • I knew someone who collected X rarities ^^ he made a short clip from a vhs rip of some 1986 concert with Jun, but i lost it T_T

here's his site where he shows off his stuff:

    http://www.geocities.com/bigkingpogo/

I'm a hide fan too, but Jun *_* omg.

  • Wow, that's pretty cool, thanks for the link.
