Why, why, why would you ruin a popular CMS by constantly making web builders go through this hassle of redoing their sites every 6 months.. The constant headaches of getting your third party add-ons and custom templates to be in sync and update with this is so frustrating, that i"m too the point of leaving Joomla permantely and migrate back to Wordpress! I've never had so many headaches with any other CMS before.. It's also extremely expensive, especially when GPL licenses must be repurchased
Does it really matter if we skip number versions? I mean it's just a number and going to 2.5 now (since it'll be a long term release) really makes sense.
My vote is for 2.5 because the confusion, if any (nearly impossible after seeing this video), will only be short-term but will begin the process of communicating the new time-based development cycle, understanding which is more important, right away.
this is one reason open-source sucks, sometimes it's best to just pay for something to get quality
