  • It looks like California.

  • fishing bedding fish is stupid

  • i was at a lake last year, and the bass had made circular beds. i was using kelly worms, and i burned them up! it was awesome!

  • How do you know what type of bait to use on a bed? i like to worm fish, but i have been trying to experiment with other creature baits... what do you look for to determine what bait to throw? Worm, Lizzard, grub, jig, brushhog, etc?

  • @jnettlesjr. Its usually experimentation bud. If they don't each something 6", go to something 4". If that doesn't work maybe change colors. If that doesn't work, go to something 2 inches. :o)

  • good video

  • @DSMbassman. That would be good if you were fan casting around spawning flats. I probably wouldn't recommend it for sight fishing a bedding bass but if it works for you then go with it.

  • would a lizard with a bulllet weight trigger a strike on a bed since it looks like its eating the eggs?

  • @LippinSmallmouth Lizards are a very good bait on a beds.

  • its alot harder to fin there beds on river..... thats were i fish... i mostly look for cuts in the bank and cover.

  • @TheFrogMaster22 . Good job FrogMaster.

  • whats the song at the end?? thanks

  • would a heavy jig work for bed fishing?

  • @arens65 Yep

  • @smileyj206 should i use a trailer?

  • What is bedding?

  • @drummer5o its when fish lay mate and lay there eggs in a certain area and they stay there to protect them and if anything gets near there bed they will hit it out of aggression to protect there eggs.. thats why u wanna use a drop shot like james smiley is showing in the video

  • @drummer5o its the time of the year when the bass lay there eggs.. and its good for fishing cause if somthing gets close to there bed and they think its danger for th eggs they will hit it even if its not hungry..

  • @drummer5o . In the spring time, the bass spawn in the shallow water. They clean off a small area where they will lay their eggs and protect that area. That small area is usually round and fisherman call it their "bed". Bedding fish are fish that are on their spawning nest. This happens when the water temps get around around 62 degrees in the spring time (largemouth) and around 60 degrees for smallmouth.

  • i was catching alot of bedding bass, the one with the red tail (think thats the male) on a LC pointer 100 Ghost minnow, just letting it sit over the bed, and very lightly twitching it, and BAM!!! they nail it. but now your video makes me wanna try the D.S. with a small fluke.

  • hey i was wondering how big was your fluke? 3-4in?

  • @FishboiFishboi. This day it was a Tiny Fluke Jr.

  • @smileyj206 oh really? i think i might just get some then b/c i like your drop shotting style but i only got 5in flukes which are a bit bigger. so i was wondering how do you keep the artificial bouyant, FLOATING if i misspelled it, or types of baits that float??

  • Great explanation ! Ty!

  • My years of bed fishing with dropshot you have a super big leader, too keep the weight out of the bed and you can pull the fluk down into the bed no down, For largies,Smallies there not to picky really & and spots i like a short leader like you have there.with a big leader spots will actually eat the weight spmetimes. thats also why i use a darker color weight not a shinny lead one.

  • Yes.

  • Hey i am stocking up for the spring for smallies and would a basstrix bait fry work with a drop shot during before spawn season?rememember i live in Washington

  • @TheFishinguy101 They will work fine!!!

  • would a sweet beaver be good for bed fishing?

  • i use sweet beavers all the time for bed fishing and they're on of my favorites
