I use my guitar to control the harmonies, I do I adjust the input level and harmony 10 on the clock. I use my guitar tuned a half step below standard. The harmonies sound all distorted and I can not solve, can you help me? what should be happening?. I play in small places and my band sounds high, can it be the band's noise coming from my microphone and influencing this problem? the manual mode I would not have this problem?
Hi, I have another question here: I play mediocre mandolin in an acoustic Irish band. Is it safe to assume the TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony-G will work when I'm strumming chords on the mandolin rather than guitar? And secondly, what would happen to my vocals if I'm plucking a melody on the mandolin, rather than chords, which is running through the processor? I read one of your replys stating it could be run through our guitarist but I'd like to avoid that.
Do you know the song waving flag by k'naan the coca cola celebration mix? i'm wondering what for vocal effects they use in that song like i'm giving an example... they use a reverb but i think they use also a chorus for the vocal effect. could you tell me what they use for vocal effect they use also a lot of harmony! thanks!
@CRYBABYMAN535Q Hiya, From what I can hear there is a lot of reverb in the chorus. Also, the main vocal line is doubled pretty much all the way through. In some sections, it does sound as if they are using a small amount of modulation (possibly chorus) also.
@CRYBABYMAN535Q Hiya, To achieve this amount of complexity you are probably lookg at a combination of several pedals. However, this is perfectly achievable with either a VoiceLive 2 or possibly a VoiceLive Touch.
very very impressive -- it makes you doubt the integrity of many band live performances, though. and I wonder how complicated it is to get the machine to produce that output. demos always make things look "easy"..
@thekaobe Hiya, Yes - the Harmony-G will definitely work with a bass guitar. However, if you are wanting to use your bass to control the harmonies you need to generate the chord from your bass (or at least the 1st and 3rd). A good way of doing this is to play 10ths e.g. A on the E string and C# on the G string.
Alternatively, you can always set a key and a scale for harmony generation.
You want to hear the best heavily produced material..listen to De Phazz. For a long time I thought they were using more than one singer...but nope. And the processing done with with everything else on their music is the best I ever heard. But it makes sense, as the band had really excellent musicians, and excellent songwriting. Way beyond typical pop funk. Love their stuff.
how come i often have feedback (its not the room, the way I rooted it, i had it checked by a technician) and my guitar sounds so weird, although I put it off, I can still hear it on my amp. both mic and guitar are used on one amp.
@something2remember Hiya, My initial thought would be that your guitar is bleeding into your microphone which is causing the guitar to sound “chorused” or “doubled”. The feedback could be caused by many things but is most likely the position of your mic in relation to the speakers/amp. Can I ask what type of mic you are using and also what type of amp?
@daveboyblues Hiya, Yes, this would be the case. However, you need to be sure to give enough informaion to the unit for it to be able to determine the chord you are playing (root, 3rd, 7th - if required etc).
@balancepg Hiya, Yes it can! You'd simply manually set the key and scale, this way you don't need to connect an instrument to create the harmonies :).
@chojinkid Hiya, In general, you really need to define a third in a chord as it defines whether a chord is major or minor. With the majority of songs involving power chords it could be said that setting a key / scale for the harmonies is the best thing to do.
@tchelicon I wanted to try this for some green day backing vocals since noboyd in my band can really do them, they are all power chords so do I need to set the key in each song for punk rock?
i have an amp Roland ac 90. In which of the inputs shall i connect the cables, because it has its regular two channel for voice and guitar , but has also two inputs in AUX IN behind of the device. In which of the two i will have the best sound?
@thePlatokakos Personally, if the Aux in is stereo and the amp is capable of this I would go for the aux in as the effects wil sound better in stereo than in Mono. You may find that for gigs you would be better running this unit into the PA as an amp of this type can become quite limiting in terms of volume and headroom.
@reichela1 Thanks for sharing, I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying your Harmony-G :). Do give me a nudge if you happen to make any videos using it and I'll link it on TC-Helicon's Facebook.
@MistakenlyMistaken Hiya, You can still use the Harmony-G XT by selecting a key and scale. These products unfortunately for the average bassist need to have at least the root and third of a chord "fed" to them in order to generate the harmonies by guitar.
I'm afraid not. But, you could pair it up with a VoiceTone Correct to add the pitch correction. The Correct also gives you some helpful extras too, like compression/de-essing/ adaptive eq.
You could also check out the VoiceLive 2 which would also give you pitch correction and harmonies triggered by guitar (also by midi and any audio sound source) as well as a host of other fantastic features, presets and options.
Great video! I have a question. I use several guitars some with pick-ups and some miked. Will the voice harmony G work with a miked guitar and miked vocals?
It should do provided the guitar mic is amplified to pre amp level and there are no other extraneous noises/sounds etc (ie its in a quiet enviroment) otherwise it would be hard for the unit to "track".
You could do it that way, but it will probably sound best going through a mixer/PA - guitar amps aren't really designed for good quality vocal sound :).
Hiya Joey, where's a good place to pick one of these pedals up from? I'm in london, UK, don't suppose you know any fair-priced stores that do em? I've looked around a few shops and can't find em
Tom's great and I'm sure your comment will make him smile :) - I'll pass that on. Do give me a shout if you need any help figuring things out when your unit arrives!
I'm looking to buy a Harmony G. I was just wondering if I can use the doubling and octaving effects without the use of a guitar. Also, do you have an example of it used on heavier vocals (e.g. screams grunts)?

Hey Dave, just in case you have not decided yet... I have a Harmony G that I use almost exclusively for the doubler but I also use and love the echo effect. All just to thicken my vocales as I sing and play guitar in church more or less solo. On acapello vocals it sounds awsome. Good lock, Randy
Recently I had the opportunity to try the G and it souns great. Excellent tracking, even with some heavy vocals. I'm getting one soon. Thanks for the help guys!
Just joined a cover band and the singer just purchased one of these!sounds amazing!like having session singers joining in-Trying it out with another band this sunday and if it works with our style then I will have to buy one
I just bought one too great with my electric guitar but the mic seems to feedback the acoustic to a degree also I cant turn it up much on my Vox DA guitar amp which has a MIC input it always feeds back no matter what am using an XLR out from the Harmony to a Mic jack in by the way I havent tried it with a proper PA as I only need it for recording most of the time and practice
In live, realtime performance there is no control of harmony panning in Harmony-G. In a recording scenario, it is possible but would take 2 passes and 2 tracks.
If you were wanting specifically to pan your harmonies, I would suggest checking out the new VoiceLive 2. It can work with guitar (as well as midi etc - lots of options), but has a choice of 8 harmony parts at any one time. You have full control with this to edit where you want each harmony to sit (Left to Right).
I have a question about the voiceton G. I sing classic rock at sometimes speedmetal. Words come fast and my voice is a big loud one. In al the demo's I see and hear singers that sound like Paul Simon or at least a clone. (Not that I don't like Paul Simon)
Do you have a demo with a fast rock band? Does work with rap?
I just sent you a message with a link to a video using the Harmony G in a slightly heavier genre.
As for working with rap, the pedal is made to harmonise .. it gets it's chordal information from the guitar and the melody information from the vocals. Were you wanting harmony to your rap? If so, this is absolutely possible, so long as the pedal has some chordal reference (from guitar or manual mode - set a key/scale).
THX for your advice. Well in rap you thicken the second lines sometimes. Most of the time done by two rappers with a slightly different pitch. That is what i meant.
