Yes, French Brittany's (the original breed) are allowed black pigment, whereas the American Brittany is not. That's why you can get black & white and tri-color's. AKC does not recognize the French Brit. If you ever question which breed it is, look to the nose. If it's black, it's a French Brit.

We love are Brittany's as well. Amazing, well balanced dogs.

We also have an orange and white, but again, she's a french.
