Definitely agree.. but remember that on the Hero, it is running Android with the HTC Sense UI overlay, which looks different from the standard Android OS.
That being said, I think Sense UI on android is the most attractive UI out there hands down.
Since this phone is slated for Sprint and I am with Verizon, does anyone know if the Sense UI will be able to be ported over to the Touch Pro 2 or the Diamond Touch 2? Both of which are slated for Verizon. I am between this set up or maybe the Omnia 2 with WinMo 6.5 when released. Thanks for your input.
You will need to choose between hacked ROMs and officials ROMs. The hacked ones are out already. The official ones are waiting HTC approval, copyright stuff etc
there is a version of this now on verizon called the droid eris. i gotta say, verizon released 3 really awesome smart phones last week. bb storm 2, droid, and droid eris.
G1= Wonderful. My G1 is running the UI in this vide. Check out my channed and my info, and google up Root your G1, but the BB storm is sexy, but cant be hacked much...
this looks like a crazy nice phone only apple just has such a huge developer fan base for the appstore that im gonna wait on even considering google phones until their appstore groes...a lot...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
the bad part is that these touch screen phones other than the iPhone use resistive displays which does not allow for multi-touch, and the companies are not going to change because of costs...
it would be so cool if it could be supported on the g1, or if they release a phone with a physical keyboard that uses this UI... I dunno bout everyone but i love having the physical keyboard
There are rumors that the Sense UI might be available for other phones too, if they managed to get over the legal / brand obstacles with Google and carriers. I wouldn't be surprised if we see hacked Hero ROMs for older HTC Android phones though.
supposedly they are not going to have it on any google branded phones, but over at xda developers they have ported it to run on the G1, I'm running it now, and its awesome
I think it's a recipe that works and they stick with it. The first HTC Android phone, the G1, had it an not pretty much all HTC new phones have it. I played with the Magic today (it has the same curve) and it felt very good.
Good competition is coming up. iPhone vs Palm Pre vs HTC Hero. Wondering about next release of Windows CE, how it is going to better unique than all these.
Unfortunately the Hero is not as fast as shown, but it was still an amazing introduction android phone!

Never thought I'd say this but the Android GUI looks better than the iPhone. Agree / Disagree?
jive1926 2 years ago 14
This isn't the original Android UI though. It's modified by HTC and it's called HTC Sense. I agree it's looking totally better than iPhone though.

@nitsuj1231 Driod...faster processor, better UI, better camera, the list goes on lol
also by "todays standards" Blackberry is a brand sought out as "outdated"
plus the droid has a physical keyboard :)
(I tried it, and found it to be a little cramped but if you have smaller fingers it'll work for you!!)
ThisGuyLovesMusic 2 years ago
@nitsuj1231 don't get the Storm, it has bad reviews. If you must get a BB, get one with a keyboard, their touchscreen models are horrible.

Some Magics will. The Dreams, probably not. Hardware is not good enough apparently.

I want a HTC Hero over an iPhone anyday, cos once HTC incorporates multi-touch, i'm sold.
The integration of apps like Footprints(looks better than on Touch Cruise 09) with maps and others makes it a wholesome experience. :D

Oh yes they do. Multi touch is coming.
Its been some sort of patent dispute with Apple afaik but it seems resolved as the Pre has it and Android WILL have it.

I hope they release a nicer looking phone with sense soon

Titanas 2 years ago
whats the diff between the sense and the android...like is the sense an add on to the android?
hallal55 2 years ago
Sense is the UI (User Interface), meaning all the nice graphics and stuff you see and use to operate the phone.
Android is the OS that Sense is built on top of it.
Titanas 2 years ago
oh okay so it will stitll feel as the older android phones just with a new touch?
hallal55 2 years ago
Not sure what do you mean by older. It run Android 1.5 aka Cupcake which is the latest version of Android at the moment.
Titanas 2 years ago
i ment will the G1 and g2 (older android phone )wil they hae the sense?

Apart from all this "cool" stuff that makes so nice to interacte, it's gonna be the first ANDROID phone with FLASH.
Others won't have until October, Adobe is working on it.

this or the HTC touch HD.
i really like the look of this, want to know the extensibility of android though.
L1SE19 2 years ago
This one fore sure. Hero is way better than the Touch HD.
Titanas 2 years ago
why though? i like the windows OS, but i've never used an android phone. does the sense UI limit any features of android?
L1SE19 2 years ago
Windows Mobile is old, very old. Unless you need the real estate of the Touch HD screen, Android does anything for you, plus the Sense UI.
..and no, tt doesn't limit anything. It's just a UI
