I keep trying to get my church to do this song during our worship time, even if it's just playing this video, but no one else shares my taste in music :( Elisabeth
We're not all 'stuckinthemud' Christians, Elizabeth - some of us are on a journey - from Bob Dylan's ' Chimes of freedom' to Tinariwen (from Mali) and Anoujka Shankar (the daughter of Ravi Shankar - the great Indian sitar player). You might like Sons of Korah - they have put together some nice videos on u-tube!
@peterobrien1000 -Thanks, Peter. I just listened to Psalm 117 by Sons of Korah and love it. I'll listen to your other suggestions later.
I discovered African music through a church. Sometimes I go to a Nigerian church where the worship time lifts me up so much I feel happy for a whole week. I dance more than anyone else there and you have no idea how gratifying it is to hear people from African tell me I'm a good dancer.
Glad you liked 'Sons of Korah' . I saw them in Bath (N E Somerset) live, a couple of times - very good. I'm still waiting for a Christian band that can play tablas, sitars or maybe the kora with some African rthymes & dancing included! they must be 'out there' somewhere! In the meantime you might like to look at 'The half remarkable question' by the Incredible String Band on u-tube. They were a 'psychedelic/folk group back in the 70's.
I need to treat my parents to a Tuku ticket next time he comes to the UK. They absolutely love him, but for the past 11 years "shift" has been more important than going out and having some fun. Him and Salif Keita. Next time they tour I will make sure mommy and daddy get a ticket even if I can not afford one for myself.
I believe Tuku deserves all the success,he has endured so many hardships along the way during his career, but he remained resolute,he had self belief, determination and unbelievable stamina in the cut throat music industry, most importantly he remained calm, respectful and very down to earth. This man is a true role model.Long live Oliver .-Joseph"The King" Hussein,Harare,Zimbabwe

Robert 'the son of the devil' Mugabee! He and his 'evil henchmen' and vile followers have ruined your once rich and beautiful Land and your beautiful countrymen and women and children are all suffering because of the selfish, greedy powerhungry son of satan who sits in office like a Leech parasite sucking the blood out of innocent Zimbabweans! He will
Zimbabwean cry daily...Cry for their beloved country, where a few people share the wealth through corruption, torture, in the name of twisted Pan Africanism. We cry to Lord for the economy that has been battered, the future that has been destroyed, the election that have been rigged, the resources that have been misused. We pray that Mugabe and ZANU PF see common sense for the benefit of their people. Zimbabweans suffer at home and abroad, except a few priviledged.
This song is so relevant in this moment of life!!!!
