Rode 35 miles to work and back then out again in the evening. I could not get enough of it. I'm a 45 year old father of two now and still ride to work. Race at the weekends too......but still think of my first love from time to time....my SS50 *sigh*
I always wanted one, my mate had one. I bought a crappy 2 stroke Gilera Trail bike, was always trouble to start and never as quick as my mate on his SS50 or every body elses FS1E. Would sure love to turn the clock back and do it all again. The Gilera would definitely go ! Such happy days !
Bloody hopeless things. Only Specky wankers ever rode one. No offence to specky wankers. It sort of went, fizzies were ridden by nutters and sex maniacs, ap50s by the posers,ss50s as above, fantic gt and caberlaro by toss pots with dads with too much cash. Puch maxis by even bigger wankers than honda ss50s.Well it was like that south of Ipswich from 73 to 78.
...but those 'specky wankers' (hey.. my eyesight's perfect! what are y' saying???) got twice as far on their hard-earned gallon and didn't have to spend a week a month off the road saving up for a new piston!!!
I had one too, back in 1980. 2 months later i was in hospital with a broken ankle all thanks to a hit n run driver in a vauxhall viva.Hope you had sleepless nights!
brilliant bikes. i had one and i abused the hell outta it for 5,000 miles and all it ever needed was a spark plug. honda sure know how to make motorcycles!!
Yeah i totally agree honda make some great bikes i used to have one of these when i was 16 long time ago , moved to bigger hondas now have X4 1300 cc ha ha
