@ashbygrace397 A-MEN! As far as the visuals go, the West End production knocks everything else I've seen clean out of the water, and that includes the way they do the water as well. (It's not just the lighting, either; their use of smoke in "One Day More" makes it ten times better.)
Just like in that horrible new movie of Jesus Christ Superstar, he is way overacted.
At least he sounds a little better here than doing Judas... but anyway I would have been really frustrated if I went to the theater and find this actor playing Javert.
Just doesn't have the dignity and power of the character.
i disagree with the person that said javert wouldn't be frantic and frenzied this scene, the reason he kills himself is that he lost his dignity and it is causing him to lose his mind. for lack of a better word, he is kind of throwing a temper tanrom. i think the acting in this was really good.
@devonfarrell He actually killed himself because he couldn't comprehend morality existing outside the law. "The world I had known is lost in shadow. Is he from heaven or from hell?"
I didn't like this. Jerome played Javert how he played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, far to frantic. This may have worked for Judas but even in this scene when Javert has fallen apart mentally he still keeps his composure and dignity before death. I didn't like the last note either
Jerome's pacing and frantic hand/arm gestures before he is on the bridge remind me of The Phantom during the final lair scene of Phantom of the Opera. This fact just makes me wish more and more that Jerome would play the Phantom someday.
Jerome Pradon definitely played Javert in 2002. Unless I am mistaken, this performance would have been before the closing and subsequent revival of LES MISERABLES.
Probably on my favorite scenes, the song itself and the ending of the song is impressive.

I LOVE Jerome as Judas <3 and I apologize all Jeromes fans, but for me he doesn't fit into this role. For me Javert=Philip Quast.
PS. I don't think Jerome is bad or sth. He is very good :)

You've got to feel bad for all the suicides this guy has to commit for a living.

Pradon can't really hold his own, but he's not bad. Maybe he's better in French? Funny you only ever see him singing in English.

Ok, Jerome is actually pretty good.
It's safe to say that Jesus Christ Superstar didn't do him much justice.

Well at least the ending was right. Otherwise, I thought Javert sounded more like Quasimodo. At least they are both Victor Hugo characters.
