I always found, during the early days of cata, coming into a good HC pug, with 5 CCs available, a wonderful sense of achievement with a 6-mob pull becoming a 1-mob at a time fight. Maybe achievement is the wrong word but I found that as enough of a payback (besides completing the instance with that many fewer wipes) for CCing.

You get 1300 conquest points for a few victories in an arena. 2400 cp=epic weapon. Almost better than the one from a hc instance. Who cares if the rest is farming, win-trading, whatever? I can get free epic pvp gear! For almost NO effort.

How can all of you dumbasses say TB trading is an exploit. This game is controlled by incentives. The current incentive is to win trade. Blizzard devs know this and obviously knew the only way to get the zone to turn over more often would be to give an incentive. They need time to fix a broken system and they want to stop the "I cant do my dailys or Baradin hold" qq. This also solves alot of the balancing issues with resil will fix it answers by gearing base level gear for all newbs sooner.
A couple weeks of broken honor gains spent on base level honor gear will get this "live beta" rolling a little better and help slow the qq katdruidpewpew'd me too hard posts. This honestly is a win win for blizz. Alot of Buzz on forums and faster gearing for people to see that resil stacking actually does solve alot of the current balance issues with some classes and time to re-work that pile of shit zone called Tol Barad where zerging defense from a central node is the only way to play.
Got this new thing where if there's a mage and you mark a mob with a moon they think immediatly everyone in the group is ready and go ahead and sheep it, thus pulling the group and causing anyone is isn't ready for the pull to shit themselves and panic. Never ever had a problem with mages in TBC who could sheep during the pull. When did mages become unable to cast on things whilst they're moving?

TotalHaliBut, i would like you to test this "Ice Block Free Fall Alternative" which i just found out earlier. Get to a very high place above the ground, aim your camera view directly at the ground, just before you reach the ground, use blink and it would safely teleport you with no apparent damage suffered. It is a very good alternative as it only has 15 sec cooldown.

I jumped off a very high place, popped divine protection in all beliefs that I would not take any damage at all from the fall, but for not reading patch notes or tool tip, I died.
And FYI: Cooldown on hand of protection and divine shield got reduced to 5 min in a patch.

As far as tol barad goes, if this deal was not in effect on our server, Ali would NEVER get tol barad because the horde on our server are better pvpers, better raiders, and come in bigger numbers. I don't care about the honor and I never fight cause I don't pvp, but the faction in general would be almost inaccessible due to the horde if that mechanic wasn't in place.
Also Tol'barad has a massive bug. If you stand on the bridge and run in just as it finish's you get the honour and marks.(This is for those that didn't get called, for instance my server is 80% horde so tol barad usually consists of 40vs40 for us with hundreds of players left out standing on the bridge then running in for the free gear.) [Also our server trades wins with alliance as well. Can't wait till its fixed]
I don't think I would call win trading "cheating." It is definitely not in the spirit of the game though. There is no rule that says "You must show up and defend." In fact, the reason that this is happening is because Bliz felt that Tol Barad was so hard to win if it is being defended properly that they had to award loads of extra honor. We now have a situation where there isn't any incentive at all, outside of roleplay, to defend.

how about raising the honour of defenders? so attackers get their 18,000 but defenders get say, 23,000 or something, then defenders have their reason to defend and attackers don't get their sense of "herp derp, they'll just lose on purpose to attack next time." it may be the fact that i just thought of this, but i cant think of a way for people to exploit that.
It is taking advantage of a system placed into the game that was never intended to be used in such a way, thus it is an exploit. Unless you can show me a blue post stating that this was the intent of the change to the bonus honor you gain for winning Tol Barad?
TB, while I do think Win Trading is unsportsmanlike, it's not at all an exploit. There are no abused glitches, no kind of trickery or ban-worthy gameplay going on, and nothing to upset anyone enough to change all of Tol Barad. Win Trading is simply a mutual agreement to not fight. As far as I'm concerned any hardcore PvP guilds/realms should do this as it will get them the gear they desire more quickly. Though it is frowned upon by some, it's how those people want to play the game.
@rkid1296 besides, Tol Barad is virtually impossible to actually play on my server anyway. It lags just as bad as Wintergrasp back in the day, which means that an instant cast spell will take about 5-10 seconds to go off. So both sides just tacitly agreed to rotate control of the zone instead of launching futile attempts to play a broken system that also lags like hell.
But you still have to do the bridge exploit if you want your honor as alliance.

What's with people thinking wrath was all easy and players who started in wotlk are "wrath babies". 4 out of the 5 hardest pve fights EVER were in wotlk. Of course if you're a baddie who just runs heroics, you might think wotlk was an easy expansion, but don't blame blizzard for not wanting to progress to harder things.
About Tol Barad wintrading. Fuck blizzard, I'm going to wintrade as long as it's possible considering BG queues are ~30 minutes and blizzard is doing nothing to fix that.
I understand what you mean on tol birand, it's just that the winning % is so low many people I know will actually get entire major horde and alliance cities to win trade, but that to me is cheap but at the same time a decisive move
The only "raid BG" which worked was Alterac Valley. You could "turn the tide" even when you were behind, simply because the NPCs and the quests are very important in that BG.
If there is no significant number of NPCs to defend you are relying solely on players and players are generally dumb and selfish. Alterac Valley is also a LINEAR BG and neither Tol Barad nor Wintergrasp are ... Linear is much simpler to organize.
It's not like the 'win trading' is any organized event; people getting into Tol Barad via the queue is completely random, regardless of when you queue up. How is it possible that all the people getting in are "in on" whatever supposed backdoor deal is occurring?
It's basically a repeat of Wintergrasp, only amplified; the incentive to defend TB is not worth the time, effort and likelihood of losing, so people don't bother. It's a big problem yes, but it's not a conspiracy.

PvP should NOT INVOLVE GEAR. That would solve the problems of people abusing the system and of idiots (who dont know how to do it) from joining mass PvP BGs.
Adjusting the classes for PvP was one of the reasons I quit three years ago, but if Blizzard is still doing this then I will surely leave again after seeing the sights of all the new content. It is simply not good for the whole class system to have all classes "too close together", because you can never give any class something unique.
I fucking HATE this TB bullshit. On my server Barthilas this is happening too. They are constantly trading wins. People are also trying to use a glitch where they run across the bridge from the north island at the right time to try and get honour without getting in to the BG. (Its extremely hard to get into now)
Setting alarms for every 4 hours (or whatever) and running across a bridge at the right time is not how youre supposed to get honour.
The reputation from dungeons, and rep from dailies should average to about all reputations exalted within 2-3 weeks, based upon how often you run dungeons of course. Hope this helps, I love having 5 or 6 epics and having not spent a copper on any of them. :)

Therazane and Hellscream's Reach give about 2000-3000 rep per day if you do them all, along with 100g, on average, per faction. Now while you do those dailies, put on a tabard for Ramkahen, Guardians of Hyjal, or the Earthen Ring.
This is a helpful tip for those trying to get their exalted epics. I am currently exalted with every cataclysm faction. How, you ask? DAILIES! Save yourself the trouble of hours of dungeon rep grinding and do dailies! I spend maybe an hour to two hours a day doing Dragonmaw, Therazane, and Hellscream's Reach dailies.
Oops, it got cut off. On the plus side, we're winning more now; our server is Alliance-dominated atm and it's hard to win anything in the first place. On the other hand whenever we have to just drop Tol Barad for the Allies I feel like we could have beaten them- but at the same time I feel like we're doing a nice thing for them. :S I just can't wait until they fix Tol Barad: it's not even that fun as it is now, nor fair.

And a small tip for tanks or anybody really, quickmark addon adds a little mark-icon bar you can just click to apply a mark to your target. Pretty handy
All of the Oceanic realms except for Saurfang aren't win trading. So transfer now, for real Tol Barad!... Unless you're an alliance, then you're just setting yourself up for a 24/7 stompfest.
almost every relm i know of is doing the whole trade off deal our relm though still had the horde come and attack us but we still kill them and we still have some fun they still trade off

how about raising the honour of defenders? so attackers get their 18,000 but defenders get say, 23,000 or something, then defenders have their reason to defend and attackers don't get their sense of "herp derp, they'll just lose on purpose to attack next time." it may be the fact that i just thought of this, but i cant think of a way for people to exploit that.

It is taking advantage of a system placed into the game that was never intended to be used in such a way, thus it is an exploit. Unless you can show me a blue post stating that this was the intent of the change to the bonus honor you gain for winning Tol Barad?

TB, while I do think Win Trading is unsportsmanlike, it's not at all an exploit. There are no abused glitches, no kind of trickery or ban-worthy gameplay going on, and nothing to upset anyone enough to change all of Tol Barad. Win Trading is simply a mutual agreement to not fight. As far as I'm concerned any hardcore PvP guilds/realms should do this as it will get them the gear they desire more quickly. Though it is frowned upon by some, it's how those people want to play the game.

@rkid1296 besides, Tol Barad is virtually impossible to actually play on my server anyway. It lags just as bad as Wintergrasp back in the day, which means that an instant cast spell will take about 5-10 seconds to go off. So both sides just tacitly agreed to rotate control of the zone instead of launching futile attempts to play a broken system that also lags like hell.
But you still have to do the bridge exploit if you want your honor as alliance.

What's with people thinking wrath was all easy and players who started in wotlk are "wrath babies". 4 out of the 5 hardest pve fights EVER were in wotlk. Of course if you're a baddie who just runs heroics, you might think wotlk was an easy expansion, but don't blame blizzard for not wanting to progress to harder things.
About Tol Barad wintrading. Fuck blizzard, I'm going to wintrade as long as it's possible considering BG queues are ~30 minutes and blizzard is doing nothing to fix that.

I understand what you mean on tol birand, it's just that the winning % is so low many people I know will actually get entire major horde and alliance cities to win trade, but that to me is cheap but at the same time a decisive move

The only "raid BG" which worked was Alterac Valley. You could "turn the tide" even when you were behind, simply because the NPCs and the quests are very important in that BG.
If there is no significant number of NPCs to defend you are relying solely on players and players are generally dumb and selfish. Alterac Valley is also a LINEAR BG and neither Tol Barad nor Wintergrasp are ... Linear is much simpler to organize.

It's not like the 'win trading' is any organized event; people getting into Tol Barad via the queue is completely random, regardless of when you queue up. How is it possible that all the people getting in are "in on" whatever supposed backdoor deal is occurring?
It's basically a repeat of Wintergrasp, only amplified; the incentive to defend TB is not worth the time, effort and likelihood of losing, so people don't bother. It's a big problem yes, but it's not a conspiracy.

PvP should NOT INVOLVE GEAR. That would solve the problems of people abusing the system and of idiots (who dont know how to do it) from joining mass PvP BGs.
Adjusting the classes for PvP was one of the reasons I quit three years ago, but if Blizzard is still doing this then I will surely leave again after seeing the sights of all the new content. It is simply not good for the whole class system to have all classes "too close together", because you can never give any class something unique.

I fucking HATE this TB bullshit. On my server Barthilas this is happening too. They are constantly trading wins. People are also trying to use a glitch where they run across the bridge from the north island at the right time to try and get honour without getting in to the BG. (Its extremely hard to get into now)
Setting alarms for every 4 hours (or whatever) and running across a bridge at the right time is not how youre supposed to get honour.

The reputation from dungeons, and rep from dailies should average to about all reputations exalted within 2-3 weeks, based upon how often you run dungeons of course. Hope this helps, I love having 5 or 6 epics and having not spent a copper on any of them. :)

Therazane and Hellscream's Reach give about 2000-3000 rep per day if you do them all, along with 100g, on average, per faction. Now while you do those dailies, put on a tabard for Ramkahen, Guardians of Hyjal, or the Earthen Ring.

This is a helpful tip for those trying to get their exalted epics. I am currently exalted with every cataclysm faction. How, you ask? DAILIES! Save yourself the trouble of hours of dungeon rep grinding and do dailies! I spend maybe an hour to two hours a day doing Dragonmaw, Therazane, and Hellscream's Reach dailies.

Oops, it got cut off. On the plus side, we're winning more now; our server is Alliance-dominated atm and it's hard to win anything in the first place. On the other hand whenever we have to just drop Tol Barad for the Allies I feel like we could have beaten them- but at the same time I feel like we're doing a nice thing for them. :S I just can't wait until they fix Tol Barad: it's not even that fun as it is now, nor fair.

Tol Barad trading is simply optimal right now - I don't think you can criticize people for following incentives (full disclosure: I haven't done a TB since the point values were changed). The place is simply broken, and they need to fix it - changing point values around is just a band-aid.

It´s just a matter of time before they change the rules of Tol Barad. Would be nice if they just used the same principle as on rest of the bg´s. Most of the bases = a win, same honor for both sides def / attack.
And a small tip for tanks or anybody really, quickmark addon adds a little mark-icon bar you can just click to apply a mark to your target. Pretty handy

almost every relm i know of is doing the whole trade off deal our relm though still had the horde come and attack us but we still kill them and we still have some fun they still trade off
