@keysersozeh but those work the Same Way also with this you can extract vocals (which is useful for remixes) and this program can do much much more than just that its like every Editors Dream.
LOL koolpatch.. how could it? If you export midi, you'll only export the musical notes and not the sound itself. But you can export Loops of a Piano or Guitar or whatever you have in Chords in AudioFiles again. You just need to change it in Melodyne Editor then and export your result to WAV/AIF again. ;)
I started out using Digidesign's Sound Tools back in 1989. There's always something that comes out every ten years or so that completely changes things... this app is definitely a game changer. Also, expect people to abuse the hell out of this.
WHEN WILL IT COME OUT!? They said that it'll be out last october.. so I put some of my projects aside waiting for it.. some vocals needed to be pitched propperlly, and there is a bunch of them, so I waited.. and waited.. for so looooooong.. damn...
Wow, The possibilities are endless. I'm gonna use it to transcribe Frank Zappa compositions so I can orchestrate them...re-harmonise a Beethoven string quartet...blend them both together in a new composition.... absolutely unbelievable that this is possible.
it's what people want though.. a big draw for many. think of how many bands learnt how to play by copying others.. then forming their own style.. same can happen here. open your mind man.. this tool will enable some creative minded people to do some very forward thinking things.
my mind is open. there's got to be a middle ground. it's been my experience that lots of people are all for "freedom of copyright" UNTIL they find themselves in the position of actually making a living from it. then all of a sudden, their position changes.
this looks to be an amazing tool for a whole lot of things, but wholesale theft of other people's creative works shouldn't be one of them. all of us in the music community need to be cognizant that with the income produced by those underlying works, there would be no melodyne. or any music to use it on. obviously i'm casting a wider net than necessary here, but i think the point is clear.
Actually this would help me a lot even though I am a musician. Many times I get asked to do backing tracks. This would help take out the need to play things in manually - more cost effective.

no mate, midi will just be note data. You'll have to chose the instrument yourself.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
"...the fact that you can export... musical elements from other people's tunes and you can use them in your own productions..."
or, as we like to call it, stealing from other artist/musicians and violating their copyright.
yah, that's great.

Cause you know copyright is beneficial for everything in the world. Oh wait, there's plenty of papers out there saying the exact opposite....
You know there is a clause called Fair Use, but you'd probably hate it...

Actually it's designed for single tracks of a multi-track recording, not for entire mixes and not for extracting vocals.

who cares what it's designed for.. what it can do is what matters and it does good things!
