  • the only fruit on the trail is this guy

  • Thanks for the tip!

I'll start drinking water on hiking trips from now on!

  • Last time I checked, an orange is WAY softer than an apple!! If you stuff your pack like this guy does, wouldnt you want a nice, firm apple at the bottom, compared to an orange thats gonna get squashed into juice???? And bagels with cream cheese wont get mushy?? Hey Chris, pack a pizza while you're at it............

  • this video had potential to be usefull

  • Nothing was conveyed

  • that was useless

  • i am now less knowledgeable than i was 1 minuet and 33 seconds ago.

  • @solobackpacking but mexicans are the spiciest

  • How long does this guy hike? Cream cheese bagels really? after a couple of hours on or off the trail the cream cheese is going to be all nasty . I can sorta see the bagel it's a harder bread so it won't crush or crumble

He must be a day tripper because he shure ain't no week long trekker

  • this guy is a joke he sounds like he is on drugs or something. are these videos even serious? cream cheese bagels when backpacking wtf is this guy talking about

  • @Joedanbeck he is my father ya punk

  • ummmmmmmm

  • For food I simply hunt down lone backpackers.

Italians, Chinese and Japanese backpackers for variety.

    Vegetarian hikers for fiber.

  • @solobackpacking ahahahaha love it

  • As short as it is useless.

  • Useless!

  • Oranges don't bruise? Wow, new advice to me...

  • This is the worst information I have ever heard. Must be going in an RV! I know he was dressed for it.

  • wow, thats alot of advanced shit to process at one time for me...do you have a beginner lesson?

  • as far as "lack of advice" goes, this is a great vid!

  • Who wants to place bets that this guy has never been on the trail for more than twenty miles?

  • So basically he is telling us to take our nuts.

  • I absolutely 'lost it' in laughter reading all the comments below......These comments serve a more practical purpose than the video above. Thank you members from Idiots Village for the inspiration to these individuals for their more valued inputs.

  • Is Expert Village just some thing this guy made up, or do they just not have any quality control?

  • Seriously? Seriously? Bagels and cream cheese? Are we talking about an afternoon outing and a packed lunch? How many people really need advice on how to pack a lunch?

  • PUT PENUTBUTTER ON BOTH SIDES OF THE SANDWICH and it wont get mussey life lesson #7,124,521

  • do you stay away from juices or pussyes? :D

  • Out for a stroll in the park?

  • that was helpful lol

  • This guy reminds me of my gay English teacher Lmao...

  • this guys a noob

  • Why do people make a video outdoors and not use a wind screen on the microphone? Maybe expert village has a video on how to make a video.

  • howcast is better than expert village.

any damn idiot would know that they need to bring perishable foods, food that will stay fresh for a long time and doesnt need any refrigeration (WOW THAT's NOT HARD!) unless ur in the winter season, in that case get urself sum porc-chops, steak and a fkin can of beans and sum beer, now THAT's survival :]

ive been camping since i was 9, but 10 years later im figuring that theres alot of people who like to post bs over the net, try going a week of camping

  • @cormany71 I'm hoping you mean nonperishable?

  • What a freakin retard. Expert my ass.

  • wtf is this shit!?!

  • so u thinks people dont already know this?

  • What is up with this guy's advice? Advanced? Really? Uhmmm... trail mix? Is that what he's basically saying to bring? Trail mix? How is that advanced? And how's that going to get me three days in and three days out exactly?

And what happened to the promised segment about learning about HOW to pack the food?

All of these "expert" videos are beyond ridiculous. Anyone know how to get these deleted from YouTube on grounds of false/misleading claims and instructional information? Seriously.

  • bring sandwiches the same as bringing lunch to school, stupid. peanut butter sandwiches.

  • Thats really it??? Advanced??? Oh i hope people dont rely on this one as a comparison as to whats really advanced in backpacking... Theres so much more than that....

  • Its not worth the trouble. Pack an MRE, thats (meal ready to eat) for thoes smarter fellows. Requires nothing but opening it to eat it. You can find them at most military surplus/army navy style stores. Also try outdoors stores.

  • I live in the U.K and eat lightwieght stuff for breakfast and lunch and U.S MRE's as my evening meal,(with some of the packaging removed.) When spending 3 - 4 days trekking and wild camping it's not enough just to survive, I want to enjoy my dinner!

  • Change your name into not so expert village.

  • Ramen noodles and high mileage....until you get to the next town.

  • can expert village hire me also so i can give useless information

  • m punking on the brink...all that ugly chemical crap moreover this stuff is quiet expensive....use army combat rations !!! :)( no u.s.-rations...same crap) substantial, cheap and tasty...my recommendation: german army field rations called "epa"

  • maybe a village but few of these people have any know how in "their" field

  • is this a joke??

  • How does this guy survive on the trail? I appreciate his intentions, but the know-how is severely lacking. Just hope some newbies to hiking dont think that this is a professional talking. If you are new and need advice...look at a few more vids.

  • umm anybody could of said that not very expert like

  • nice ideas

  • "Things like walnuts. Or things like nuts". Oh dear. And I'll take sandwiches if I want to Mr. I'll make sure I don't put 'mushy' filling in. They wont go 'mushy'. My cream cheese went everywhere last time, lol. Maybe a bit of chocolate would be nice too. Perhaps some fruit juice, because I like to take that. And some oaty bars. A snack sausage maybe. I'll look after my apple!

  • I see "Expert Village" is not lacking any idiots.. this video is a joke

  • That was horrible , thanks for nothing. Here is a good item a thermos with hot water and radmen soup. Its a good pick me up. Eating a box walnuts would suck.,

  • ...

  • Hmmm, I have to agree. Not nearly enough substance in this really short video. The only thing I learned was that oranges do sound pretty good for my next backpacking trip...

  • what the hell was the point of that?

"for the trail, bring food that holds up well on the trail, not food that won't do well on the trail."

    seriously

  • I have found that generally speaking, "expert village" is sub-par.

  • Not all the time, some of their vids are really helpful, just not this one :P

  • The only one I liked is the one that toldme not to store a sleeping bag in the stuff sack.

  • Wow! With jokers like this, it's obvious why "Expert Village" is only a village.

  • I bet this guy packs fudge...lol

  • If you can't present; it's best not to do it at all!

  • You should alwasy keep fast burning energy sources with you to give you short, sharp boosts of energy; being snacks and an emergency ration pack made up of your own favourite sweets and chocolate. These, fast burning energy, foods are to be eaten throughout the day while walking to keep your energy levels topped up and to prevent you from feeling drousy, dizzy or sick due to the exercise. By the way you could do a little better on the prestning side of things.

  • This guy does not have a clue!! Things like nuts and fruit will not keep your energy levels topped up. If you have a trangia or a gas stove with you, then you can get pre-cooked rice with a bag of curry, either bought already in the bag or poured into a sealable bag from a tin. This sort of food is good for the evening because it can warm you up, and is also very useful during the trek because it is a slow burning energy source.

  • Zataran's rice/bean mix is what we brought on our last hike. 2 boxes (removed from boxes) for 3 hungry guys was a good amount for dinner. It was great! We also brought tortillas, sardines, and cheese to make burritos out of it.

  • The presentation needs more material in regards to suggested foods & packing methods. Nuts & dried fruit are insufficient nutrition for the body while under sustained exertion, such as backpacking, and require additional water for the body to process, being dried. Nutrition? Digestion? Hydration? Forget a meal-plan, or even the psychological effect of comfort foods, or something warm when cold. That being said, I do look forward to a more thorough attempt.

  • Yes sir. I do agree. I accidently clicked badly on your comment because I am an idiot. Anyways, I am about to embark on an elk hunt with my father in less than a month. I need info on survival tips.

  • this guy is wayyyy!! to high on life

  • is this guy on meth?

  • lol

  • need a lot of water with all that dried food.

  • beans beans the wonderful fruit...
