Grandia still has the best battle system for turn based. Why has no one copied one of the best battle systems? I mean come on, you can defend allies, position yourself on the battlefield, and counter/cancel attacks! Come on, sheesh!

@VinceNoir11 agreed, but the reason grandia is underrated is because the story dosent really pick up untill the middle of the game ff7grabs you immediatey from the start ff7 has more music, more charecters, more awesome FMVs and cool technology/robots generally a bigger budget game. Also world of FF7 is pretty cool

But grandia's story somehow grabbed me more than ff7

Why can't RPGs have such rich character development such as that in Grandia? Sure, the story was simple and unoriginal, about a boy longing to become an adventurer, but the whole damn journey is what counts and that was what Grandia was all about. Its a pity RPGs these days are more or less along the lines of mindless questing and grinding.

I've played this game once and very recently, yet I already feel nostalgic when I hear this. What an amazing and inspiring game. So glad I decided to go back to the old games instead of repair my broken 360.

old school RPGs are where its at, especially the old snes and ps1 RPGs. Grandia and Xenogears are 2 of my favorites and both are on psx. Also the soundtracks in these old RPGs are the greatest in my opinion, songs like this will never get old to me and always bring back nostalgic memories of the good old days when RPGs kicked ass and focused on plot instead of graphics and mindless questing.

Oh man you are so right!!! Xenogears and Grandia 1, Suikoden 2, Chrono Cross. There are so many more than just the epic Final Fantasy 7-9. And they all share the one immortal love for story over gfx tbh. Even though they looked good for their day, it was so much more than todays bullshit. I can hardly play a game through today. They BORE me with stiff gameplay and crappy characters. No epic turnarounds or love that breaks your stone heart. <3 Ty, feels good not to be alone in the universe :D

HEART AND SOUL!!! <3 I am in tears now tbh. Grandia had a rich soundtrack, a lush warm and exciting world filled with mystery and wonder. And the love was beautiful and character development. I just feel that this is what new games lack. And the SPEED and creative dungeons and interactive world. Everything is so STIFF and this really makes you think about how good things CAN be when you put your heart into it. Wish my life was like Grandia. Forever, and after I'm dead I wanna go here if possible

best rpg of all time,but this music is from the (start new game)opening movie/title screen. in the game itself the main theme played at the top of the wall,and there was excellent music that played while climbing.this wasn't just a game,it was a real adventure!!

and BTW, this wasnt originally a PSX game, it was originally designed for the sega saturn (where some things such as the water graphics are a bit better, but nothing significant...)

also Grandia Xtreme was just a port of grandia II to PS2...

but still it was a remarkable game... they just dont make games like this anymore, the formula has become too realistic, no heroes, you play as yourself, and no "chosen one" styling, your usually not even the protagonist...
