I remember seeing this guy in my club years ago (he was about 9 or 10) he was awesome then, he's better now! Wish I didn't have that stupidly long lapse in training! (9 years, just gotten back into it now!)
@Toxeh the JKA shit themselves when Eneoda died, cos they didn't want a non Japanese person heading the JKA. Little Ohta who wouldn't say boo to a goose when ever anyone saw him, got put in charge of your JKAE. The standard isn't as good in the JKAE as the KUGB and now there are 2 small associations instead of one large one. Sad indeed
How do you know the standard isn't as good at the JKAE? I train with both JKAE and KUGB clubs, techniques changed in the JKAE and KUGB, some are almost identicle.
Its not about the style, the instructors, whatever stupid acronym you put infront of the work 'Karate', its about what we get out of Karate, and if you want to bitch about Ohta, then go right ahead, but he's an awesome technician, with a great personality.
Also, some of the highest ranked instructors in Europe are non-Japanese.

Karate is not actually about winning, because Karate is not competition for most people who practise Karate. The KUGB Squad could possibly beat JKAE squad, who cares?
I'm not trying to start an argument about which is better, I'm saying you have to respect both, it just seems you have some issues with the JKAE for no real reason? Its a name, no one cares whether you're JKA of KUGB. Just go train and quit whining.
I respect Ohta for his awesome technique, not for his farting prowess.

Threatening to demote the senior instructors if they wanted to stay with the JKA, thereby discounting Eneodas instruction. Now we have two smaller associations instead of one large one. No one thinks thats a good thing!
I agree with Toxeh. the split is a shame. The KUGB were a formidable organisation and after the passing of Sensei Enoeda, it's sad that this North/South split (almost) came about. Graded under sensei Sherry, Brennan and Ohta, I have respect for them all as practitioners and instructors There is a lot to be gained from each.
But the JKAE has yet split again with a large number of clubs (including Mohammed's) breaking away. Once again demonstrating the unfortunate effect of politics on Karate.
Yep, the new JKAEngland split is just outrageous. We're lost several top clubs, under slightly dubious circumstances (dodgy on both sides!) and it just discredits JKAEnglands name.
@DunxMeister but technically his karate is the best of all the top instructors in the UK - KUGB, or JKAE. So he probably doesn't need to go putting himself about.
At the risk of being pedantic but the split occurred when Ohta resigned from the KUGB taking the JKA status with him. So effectively it was the JKA which parted from the KUGB. I don't think the split has effected anyone's karate in any particular way although it is worth noting that the KUGB England team have won every World and European championships since 2007. I don't know how the JKA have been fairing to compare though. BTW Nice kata though.

i was sat just off the matts watching, and for a 16 yr old, wow, that was much better in real life! he is also a great little scrapper.
