  • they nee to do what dice did with the sounds, go to REAL armies and record REAL gun sounds. I'm fine with the animation and ai is still stupid.

  • Should add some physics like whena mine goes of.. who ever touches is loses a leg or an arm..

  • BIS, please never, EVER go the way of Call of Duty and Battlefield. Don't dumb it down to suit the masses, the fact that it's complicated makes it so good. Even if the graphics aren't as good, and the sounds may not be up to par, it's more the experience, and the ability to do all of those things you can't do in any other game that is what stays with me in ArmA. This makes it 100 times better than any BF or COD out there! Please keep it that way! =)

  • lol 10 years old engine Arma and they still using it??? haha

  • @cyberzone10 lol whats wrong with you, their using a upgraded version of arma 2 engine, thats only like 3-4 years old

  • 11 kids thought combat was running and jumping around killing people like in cod

  • bad AI dissapoint

  • enemy. MAN 300. 50 metres enemy man HIstory.................engaging enemy man. 12 o'clock 50 .......metres LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL XD

  • i hope they will change that animation when a man dies because is very annoying

  • I still seems that Operation Flashpoint has the best sound design of all games in the series. Why?

  • @PeyoteVisions usally your eqipment weights over 25kg perhaps 50 try too jump with this in real life lol

  • so there will be an editor for amra3 if i have understood it right?

  • Probably better Physic Engine than BF3...

    Best Tactic Shooter ever...

    Amazing graphics...

And Stephen Hawkings Computer as Voice Actor!!! :D

What do you want more ;D

  • Sound needs ALOT of work.

  • The thing which kills me in Arma, that soldier CAN NOT JUMP! What the heck? Two dimentional game. Very offten I stuck by some invisible obsticle and I can't jump over... Makes no sence...

  • game crew go outside and record new sounds if u want more ppl to buy the game.

  • What they need is a anim for when you repair choppers. It look so stupid when the healing animation was used on a black hawk -__-

  • I will buy this game IF they improve:

1: physics: Arma 3 needs better physics if they are looking for more sales

2: Ai: again same as the above, im tired of stupid AI that doesn't know what 'cover' is

3:Animation: This in my opinion is the biggest factor. If they had animations like in BF3 then ARMA 3 will official be the best game :)

    Thumbs up if you agree!!!

  • @lyons11 i'd buy this game anyway because those guys deserve all my money and they already did an outstanding job creating such a huge and detailed map!

Even if still sound like ArmA 2 i trust in them to change gun sound and command voicing.

If your not still satisfied, remember, ArmA community is the best fucking thing i ever seen! They mass produce mods of everything! This game is gonna rock for sure.

Bohemia Interactive needs your support to keep doing the job well

  • @lyons11 well yeah, but BI doesn't equal EA. Especially in terms of money

  • The game is still in production isn't it?

    Give it time people.

  • @RedSamKiller Racist. Lol jk :P

  • Other than the (unrealistic) guns and new map, this game looks the same as operation arrowhead. It's very disappointing to see the same lack of animations and very poor sound. We should be able to enjoy the sounds of the game without having to download a sound mod like JSRS. I hope Bohemia changes all that before Arma 3's release but I'm not really optimistic. All we can do is hope...

  • Hell yes characters look much more realistic then in bf3 or cod dayum...i hope i could customize my face not like in bf3 running with black guy...

  • @RedSamKiller You can customize your looking, like when you equip a bag you have a bag on your side.

  • Arma 2.5

  • guys it is still pre-alpha, it is being released in Q42012

most of the stuff in the demo was to show you some new features and the graphics, they have not recorded new animations, new sounds (which will be at a level with sound mods), finished the physics, AI, ect

    Give them a break ffs

  • Combat simulator with third person camera?

  • @ALSPEHEIR FOV in 1st person isnt realistic. they include this because you get a 'feel' as to where you are relative to any given object.

  • @bklacc1 Thx for the reply. But it is possible to use FPV in this game or the Third person mode is the only mode?

  • I just hope they wont focus on accessibility, action and entertainment in the first place.

I want realism, not battlefield like gameplay.

  • ill still buy this game

  • Having watched all the demos, I still recognise all the clouds I already saw in Operation Flashpoint - they look almost the same.

The actions still fell like delayed, the graphics seems okay. I hope that at least the mechanics of the game (A.I., physics) work as they should, even though they do not seem to. Otherwise this one will be the first game of the series that I will not buy...

Get some quality controls and listen to the users!

  • lol looks like the AI is still crap =D

  • Firstly I am a big Arma series fan and will most certainly buy the A3 to add to the collection, but since I tried BF3 every other game looks, sounds, performs and feels crap.

  • sounds are so weak again.

dam, i think they'll never make good sounds, im tired of all sound packs like JRS etc

  • @buymeamic You don't know that for sure the game is still probably in its alpha stage and they might change up the sounds

  • thats not how the fs2000 sounds at all,and still no fuckin echos

  • @linuxpowerification this is pre alpha or just alpha... calm down

  • @Trinitrotoluo

after arma and arma2 i have more than enough proof to be concerned

  • hhmmm looks like the game still will have a shit soud system, and weapon sounds, cmon bohemia you can do better than that

  • Well i really hope this game is gonna come out with a bang ..not like bf3 .i expect it to be as good as it shows us ..but instead it breaks my heart .

  • I hope the graphics look better when the final game is released.

  • Don't get why everyone is already judging the game, it's not even out yet. Anyway nice video

  • looks like arma2 with new addons island and units :)

  • Dumb shits below me.

  • @MoterCrozz and me ..

  • Yup! Looks clunky as ever! Just the way an Arma game should be :D Can't inch up to a corner, always need to take 2 steps minimum, just like real life. Then there's the pinwheeling in prone, I hope you guys haven't left that out. I love spinning around on my belly like a soldier! I also hope that all the vital performance hinderences that prevent me from using full visibility coupled with integral visual cues at the same time haven't been removed!

  • hope this game will win the game of the year 2012

  • same old clunky engine

  • STI LIMNO RE ELLADARA!!

  • Same old stupid dumb ai...... play ofp with SLX mod it makes arma3 look stupid

  • I mistook this for arma 2. Wheres the improvements?

  • @MrSixsa

this is pre-alpha, it is being worked on idiot

  • @st3v0011 lol i know Im just hatin. arma 3 is gonna be epic

  • Please remove the zoom feature when aiming down the sights. :)

  • i just hope they make the weapon handgrip different, i hate how he holds it in 1st person view, looks like hes chuck norris style hip firing the thing

  • AI is still dumb as a box of rocks.

  • @tzebra They chose the easiest difficulty as a presentation.Plus there's a whole other year before the game come's out.The AI will be better.

  • @Senninha2011 They considered Euphoria, but chose PhysX instead.

  • Talking of voice recognition (arf!), when are we going to see it for issuing orders in ArmA?

  • Comment removed

  • AI looks more like cannon fodder than soldiers... If this will be improved a lot, the game will rock!

  • ArmA needs a better gameplay (smoother movements), an easier editor.

Make it more PvP oriented with more generic PvP missions.

  • I am greatly looking forward to this game. But at the moment it just looks like ArmA 2 with ragdolls and volumetric clouds. And considering the absolutely mammoth computer specs required to run it...I'm not sure it's justified.

The movement and general mechanics still feel very clunky. I think this is something that really needs to be worked on. I'd enjoy this game much more if everything was smoother (and better optimised...)

  • @PSPmaster321 Oh and for the love of god...please improve the weapon muzzle flashes and large scale explosions! The low res, identical bitmaps detract horribly from what is a meant to be a next gen game...it seems they haven't improved much since OFP.

Bullet impact sounds should be quite a bit beefier too, I mean, it's a lump of metal impacting on rock with a force of 1,700 Joules!

  • @PSPmaster321 Amen... is like Arma 2 with a skin. They didn't even work on making the game smoother and change the annoying voices. I'm enjoying BF 3 more than I enjoy watching this videos. It looks... not impresive as expected considering the HUGE system you are gonna need to run it.

  • @PSPmaster321 they are still making it, my guess is that they were using the old sounds and animations just for the demonstraitions and i'm sure that you most likely know most of this..

  • @PSPmaster321 did you even watch the other videos???haha, look up take on helicopters. you know how in some missions like domination you can pick up vehicles? well now they have physics when you pick them up and if your not careful could do things like pull your chopper into the ground

  • @PSPmaster321 There are tons of new features, hence what the whole presentation is about. I think it will be substantially different.

  • @PSPmaster321 mouvements animation and mechanics are the same since OFP., very jerky compared this to games like COD or BF3.

the ideal game would be graphics and smooth movements like BF3 and open space, moddability and hugh free terrain like in BIS game.

  • @PSPmaster321 Well Arma 2 wasn't really optimized well, but i heard that arma 3 might become better optimized.

  • @PSPmaster321

i think that this will never happen. it's been duscussed since ARMA and nothing changed, BIS are just to lazy to do anything on the game than changing the graphics and well, ARMA II has now RAGDOLL, WTF this tehcnology is more than 10 years okd, WTF are they thinking!?

  • I've found the arma series to be operation flashpoint, with better graphics and less fun to be had from it. They've become progressively more difficult as they've gone on as well. Perhaps this is their attempt to become more realistic... but I'd say it makes it less fun. The movement, aim, AI and general gameplay of the game could also be improved AND made more realistic at the same time. Arma / ofp has always had an unpolished, indie-feel to it. As much as I love ofp, I would like to see change

  • @3kliksphilip I understand where you're coming from but. The ArmA series has definitely become easier rather than harder I don't know if it's just me but I find OFP a harder game than ArmA 1 & 2 just download the OFP demo and try that out and then compare it to an up to date ArmA 2 or now ArmA 3. It'll feel a lot better trust me =)

  • hopefully AI will be better than in Arma 2

  • Where is the minimap.

  • i saw some stuttering :((

  • It's not even out and it has soundmods XD Nice sound BIS!

  • Need to fix the radio shit

  • And look on America's Army 3. It is a war simulator and there's no jumping. One of new features can be jumping above walls. Get near wall and click space (COD). We have button "V"

  • For all: ARMA 3 IS IN 75% INCOMPLETE! So that what you see could not be implemented in final version. It is a little piece of this WAR SIMULATOR. And look which country do that game. No shit pretty good job :)

  • i hope this one isnt ruined by poor framerate

  • PLEASE CHANGE THE CAMERA AND ANIMATIONS!!! IT'S NOT REAL!

  • So, is their so-called "revamped animation system" in this build or not?

  • ARMA 3 and sound of radio still sucks =) also sounds of environment and gunshots, are all flat, no echos, no dinamics, hell and I thought thats standard in 2011.

Operation flahspoint: dragon rising, is !SHITTY game!, but it has better sounds than this and arma2

I dont wanna be hard on you guis, I just wish arma3 to be perfect

  • @DanielTejnicky Dragon Rising sounds suck, it just has a much smaller area to play in so it's easier to fake ambiance and so on. Everything ArmA games does is in real time. The sounds are not "flat", go watch some videos of real combat, they're very accurate. The "problem" is it requires a LOT of computational power to accurately render and distort audio in real time at the kind of scale you see in ArmA games. They still have a year or so of development too, they're probably working on that.

  • 1:09 AI squad-mate saves his life...

  • ArmA's strength has never been close combat. It's just too clunky for that.

What makes ArmA great is vehicle warfare and slow paced long-range combat. =)

  • voices are still crappy but they seem a bit more natural compared to a2.

  • I'm a little worried about how he moved to shoot things around corners... I sure hope they did not take away the ability to lean.

  • Exactly same game. And this is a good thing.

  • ARMA is the best simulator game in the world. With it's tactics and army controllable strategy, it is the closest you can get to the real world army, WAR is like this, NOT LIKE COD. So if u want a military mind this game is my suggestion for you. :D

  • AI still stupid same as in ArmA 2.. that's disappointment...

  • @EvroMalarkey stupid people are still stupid...

    all i will say

ohh and also "presentation difficulty" and " WIP pre-alpha"

  • @bodyboystance2 I am not stupid, I just said only opinion, I know it is just WIP, I just said that I am disappointed that I see same stupid AI elements from ArmA 2 and I hope that AI will be better and will not run around stupidly like here.. I'm actually fan of ArmA series not hater ;)

  • There's a year left of development, and it's clear there is a lot of work to be done.

But in all honesty, I'm still blown away by this stuff, and the fact that you aren't afraid to show the ugly bits of your' baby during it's infancy is pretty admirable tbh and it's got a very indie tinge to it :)

  • @agranadio Some tanks shown do exists today even though they look made up.

  • @Trinitrotoluo Never said they didn't?

  • @agranadio BIS have always been like this. They always use proper screenshots and videos too rather than touch them up in post like most other game developers do. What you see is what you get, which is a refreshing change.

  • i dont see something new except some animations. Even the graphics are the same as in OA.

  • @BigMete0r This is still 1 year before release. All they have done is changed the weapons/Units so far and made a entirely new map. Please cut them some slack, Im sure it will get better!

  • @BigMete0r This is still 1 year before release. All they have done is changed the weapons/Units so far and made a entirely new map. Please cut them some slack, Im sure it will get better!

  • im big fan of the arma series since the flashpoint, but why, for fucks sake it has to be set in the future?

  • @avegromek seriously you guys are so freaking annoying... All the things shown EXISTS except for the havok whatever chopper. All the guns, projectiles, vests (not helmets though there are even more extreme than these in real life) exists but havn't been implemented in the armies today so stop whining this isnt science fiction its science only.

Btw Rail guns... is real. Google it if you dont believe me.

  • Looks good but what i hope for ArmA 3 was a better close combat that is more like BF3 and MW3 not that i say it should be less realistic i just say it will be more nice if you could jump, and have enter vehicles with just one press on the keyboard!

  • @Andreas360dk nobody jumps in a real war :p

  • Question: Is it possible to create content to missions with SQS, SQF and FSM scripting? And will Arma 3 use the same commands OFP, Arma 1 and Arma 2 uses?

  • old video information,for what?

Change sounds of shots they not brutal, plastic shots.........

  • @mc0s1234 Have you ever heard real weapons being fired? They actually sound quite "weak" when out in the open, and from a distance it's just a bunch of cracks. Go watch some combat footage from Afghanistan or something, you'll hear how "plastic" they sound.

  • why are the voices the same as arma 2?

  • @Feanor89 i don't think they're the same... but i would like them to sound less robotic :) more emotional... like real life you know

  • @5T34LTHcamoT4NK The voice commands and so on are strung together from a pool of sounds where the variation of potential sentence structures ranges in the millions. Recording more natural sounding sentence structures would take forever, cost a huge amount of money and take up FAR too much space on the disc or in the download for it to be worth doing. You're talking gigs of audio files saying the same words in several different tones of voice by several voice actors. A LOT of work.

  • @TalesOfWar ya, but it would be awesome... if they would have a billion dollar company(bit like bf3 or cod) im sure they would make there beast to make the game better :)

but its not worth it right now lets say... i rather see other things before

note: the comment you replied to was a reply.... witch is why i was saying this..... but i dont really care much about voices, ether then the fact that your always hearing them in single player.... gets kinda.. "un realistic" lets say

  • @TalesOfWar i agree but they could use mp3 codec too ...

  • @TalesOfWar

I could see a talented voice actor talking pretty feelingleshy and it working considerably better.

i.e it's still a mess, but still a minor flaw that I'd still like to see fixed. I'm more conserned about the lackluster and static face- & body animations Bohemia makes. And yes these are just presentation issues which speaks volume on how good the whole game looks atm.

  • @Wofaze It isn't that simple, if it was they'd have done it this way. The sheer number of possible sentence structures is insane, it'd take forever to do them all as single lines or combine them using different tones of voice and so on (and the algorithms would use a nice chunk of CPU time to work out). The animation stuff can be improved aye, but it's a combat simulator rather than a heavily story and character driven kind of game. Plus more performance strain rendering all that at this scale.

  • @Wofaze Oh and the animations are motion captured. They look strange to most people because they're captured while wearing bergans and so on to make them more closely resemble a soldiers movement while carrying equipment. Watch how soldiers move in real videos and you'll see they're actually very accurate. The main problem has been the transitions from one animation to the next. This should be fixed with the implementation of full physics modeling, still a while to go yet before it's finished!

  • @TalesOfWar

I understand that a dedicated audience will eat up this game (I guess I'm a part of it, I've put in some hours into DCS: A-10C and Dangerous Waters).

But. DON'T. you. THINK. that. DEDICATED AUDIENCE. deserves. A LITTLE. better?

  • @se7en00110111 To be honest... not really. Most of the community are a bunch of whiney bastards who have no respect for the efforts BIS put into things, or the time and effort other members of the community put into making mods and so on either. They'll always find something to complain about even if it's something as retarded as a bolt being slightly misaligned on a vehicle texture. The community used to be awesome back in the OFP days, loads of mods and team work between them and stuff.

  • @TalesOfWar I agree that the community was better back in OFP.

  • @TalesOfWar

Doesn't mean it can't be done better. Jane's F/A-18's dialogue system can be just as helpful and informative and sounds infinitely more natural and organic, despite being a game that's more than 10 years old.

  • @Feanor89 They are currently the same but keep in mind the developpement stage and the release date ;) Things like that happen when moving through BETA.
