Many frustrating hours on the web and i was till no closer to finding it. Until yesterday when i was looking at some of Terrys Colourfield videos. Saw a reference to 'nursery rhymes' and feeling groovy. You have made my year!.

@blairbooth Hi Blair! I'm LOVING this album, that I've had for a while, but am just starting to really discover. All tracks are great. Having been a die-hard Terry fan forever, I guess I had this predjudice that this was just too far from everything he'd ever done. Glad I changed my mind. The 3 of you are amazing! My fave is probably Lucky in Luv. I know Chrysalis didn't want to release it as a 3rd single (wtf?), but is there any hope for us to eventually see a video of it? I'd really love that.

Finally, I wanted to know if you stayed in contact with Terry and Anouchka.

Fantastic remake of the video, Its one song that if re-released and managed to obtain Radio airplay it would be a massive hit. I remember Simon Mayo playing it in 1990 on the radio 1 breakfast show, he claimed it would be a hit if the title was changed…..I think it was his record of the week.

I sort of remember Jerry Sadowitz in the original video too, in fact I saw him on the Glasgow underground in 1997 and thought "that guy looks like Ebeneezer Goode". Shame his anti-Youtube mania has stretched as far as the video he willingly took part in in 1989. I wonder at which point he realised it stole his soul.
@blairbooth On a more musical note, I've developed a far more Brian Wilson/Beach Boys taste and appreciation than I had when we met. It makes this music make a lot more sense. I always knew I liked it, but now I have more understanding of the album's manifesto.
In a lot of ways, this album was 20 years AHEAD of its time!
@blairbooth Here's hoping he doesn't block the video again! People should be able to see the video if you want them to as the artist. It's up to YouTube/Google to work out the financial side of things so that people get paid out of the advertising revenue this site generates. I'd love to see Sadowitz's contract to know if he had any rights over 'future technologies'!

As you know there are loads of Terry Hall fans who love the album this single was title track for. And, of course, it is still in print from Cherry Red.

It has taken 5 months to do this!

@blairbooth hi blair, i am a latecomer to this music project since it wasn't really promoted in canada... i did see the original vid last year and i have to say, your version now is far better. i didn't know who that comedian, jerry was, but he being in the video ruined the vibe for me... see it's way cooler now, you learned a skill and it makes me enjoy the song better now.. it goes to show the power of visuals to match audio.. a pity someone would challenge you though on copyright issues..

@blairbooth well it's my pleasure! i am curious though, how someone who would have nothing to do with the song itself could pull the video before... did he not sign some sort of contract and receive payment for appearing in the vid? i don't see how it would have been a copyright infringement. it's good to know these things for the rest of us who also create. :) focus on the positive eliminate the negative! ;) be zen and let that guy grasp at his cards elsewhere. rise above! it's your art! <3
@ChristineCreature What a GOOD Question! He was only a paid extra. When extras appear on videos they sign a disclaimer saying they're happy with their name and likeness being used. We all signed one. I think with youtube that if someone complains even if they have no copyright entitlement youtube will remove the video. Which is what happened.
@blairbooth that is really pathetic on youtube's part and his... i've done extra work in the past and it would be equivalent to me telling alliance they must remove me from their films.. it goes to show the internet is still in its baby stages in so many ways. interesting to know though.. and obviously, card man forgot realize the slogan, any publicity is good publicity. again, your song is far more appealing without having to look at him. he should never have been in the video to start with.
@blairbooth one more question for you (i'm fascinated by this)... did you try to reach youtube about this issue? they should know such things... it shouldn't be so simple for an extra to have power over the rest... i can see how youtube would remove though, rather than deal with paperwork and research... it's the cheaper, easier route for them... doesn't make it right though...

Crazy....All my Oui 3 vids You tube said they would take down if I didn't comply. I wrote UMNR 50/50 with Terry, appeared in the Video and yet I have NO RIGHTS WHAT SO EVER! Sorry to vent!
@blairbootha a healthy vent! :) i have friends here who were signed to major labels during the 90s and they too can't upload their material to myspace, youtube, etc. labels obviously provide a block list. artists deserve to share work. it can help boost sales. some people will pirate regardless. the industry has yet to adapt well to such change and new technology. they need to become more innovative and let go of what once was.. have you thought about recording new work and going independent?
@ChristineCreature How true, I couldn't agree more. A lot of this music is out of print and people should have the right to see and hear back catalogue music. I do record a lot independently for myself but for TV and film. My experience has been that media is a lot fairer than Pop music!
@blairbooth the same applies here amongst my friends who make music for cartoons! it's lucky to combine artistic talents in commission/full time work like that... as long as you leave creative room for personal creative goals. :) cheers! i wish you the best!

I bought this album on its release after hearing this tune. Its still fresh now.
My kids absolutely loved the album. They've grown up and have their own kids now, but they still listen to it.

I really enjoyed this video.
Terry Blair & Anouchka is one of my favourite projects from Mr Hall, he's brilliant of course... but I always thought this set up suited him.
'Ultra Modern Nursary Rhymes' is a sublime slice of pop, and one of my favourite Hall moments...and there are many.

Ha, great work Blair - i seriously hope you considered the copyright infringement of singing hearts and teddy bears with balloons - they can be very sensitive you know...probably a lot funnier too.

Jerry Sadowitz who appeared in Terry Blair&Anouchka's video of Ultra Modern Nursery Rhymes, complained that this video infringed upon his copyright. Jerry's been replaced.
It has taken 5 months to do this!
Although angry with Jerry, I am also grateful because, I would have never learned Adobe After Effects and graphic animation. So thank you Jerry!
Jerry has been replaced by a number of colourful characters! Marc Bolan even makes an appearance! Bet he won't complain??!!!

@blairbooth hi blair, i am a latecomer to this music project since it wasn't really promoted in canada... i did see the original vid last year and i have to say, your version now is far better. i didn't know who that comedian, jerry was, but he being in the video ruined the vibe for me... see it's way cooler now, you learned a skill and it makes me enjoy the song better now.. it goes to show the power of visuals to match audio.. a pity someone would challenge you though on copyright issues..

@blairbooth well it's my pleasure! i am curious though, how someone who would have nothing to do with the song itself could pull the video before... did he not sign some sort of contract and receive payment for appearing in the vid? i don't see how it would have been a copyright infringement. it's good to know these things for the rest of us who also create. :) focus on the positive eliminate the negative! ;) be zen and let that guy grasp at his cards elsewhere. rise above! it's your art! <3

@ChristineCreature What a GOOD Question! He was only a paid extra. When extras appear on videos they sign a disclaimer saying they're happy with their name and likeness being used. We all signed one. I think with youtube that if someone complains even if they have no copyright entitlement youtube will remove the video. Which is what happened.

@blairbooth that is really pathetic on youtube's part and his... i've done extra work in the past and it would be equivalent to me telling alliance they must remove me from their films.. it goes to show the internet is still in its baby stages in so many ways. interesting to know though.. and obviously, card man forgot realize the slogan, any publicity is good publicity. again, your song is far more appealing without having to look at him. he should never have been in the video to start with.

@blairbooth one more question for you (i'm fascinated by this)... did you try to reach youtube about this issue? they should know such things... it shouldn't be so simple for an extra to have power over the rest... i can see how youtube would remove though, rather than deal with paperwork and research... it's the cheaper, easier route for them... doesn't make it right though...

@ChristineCreature Yea, I tried....but have you read the literature? Impossible to make head nor tales of it. Also there is NO ONE to ring! Crazy....All my Oui 3 vids You tube said they would take down if I didn't comply. I wrote UMNR 50/50 with Terry, appeared in the Video and yet I have NO RIGHTS WHAT SO EVER! Sorry to vent!

@blairbootha a healthy vent! :) i have friends here who were signed to major labels during the 90s and they too can't upload their material to myspace, youtube, etc. labels obviously provide a block list. artists deserve to share work. it can help boost sales. some people will pirate regardless. the industry has yet to adapt well to such change and new technology. they need to become more innovative and let go of what once was.. have you thought about recording new work and going independent?

@ChristineCreature How true, I couldn't agree more. A lot of this music is out of print and people should have the right to see and hear back catalogue music. I do record a lot independently for myself but for TV and film. My experience has been that media is a lot fairer than Pop music!
