Is there anything that will highlight text as it reads and let me paste in whole books or any amount of text? I am currently using Readplease and would like something that works in Linux. Readingbar is also an excellent program. Unfortunately both of them only run on Windows XP and Readingbar only works with Explorer. It would be a dream come true to find the same program that runs in Firefox under Ubuntu or Linux Mint.
When will they come out with speech to text that isn't so bleeping expensive for those of us who are disabled. also when will it stop making me repeat words like of or a the an and. none of them recognize articles...
It's good to see a GNU version of this. If you have ever tried to install this you will quickly realize that it isn't easy to do, and is likely impossible for someone with disabilities.
nice video, but im still waiting for the voice command program witch you will not need to talk like an idiot. This is just amazing for blind people but for normal users is just a waist of time.
Thanks for this video. I speak with accent to. English is not my natural lenguaje but now i know i can use recognition to. And fuck to everybody who laught about it. Ill like to hear you speaking my lenguaje...
I've starting to use Linux for several months, and just looking for speech recognition software for Linux.
I was so disappointed at this video for its terrible accuracy, compared to my Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 on Windows. This video shows one of the developing points of Linux.
I wish I could use Dragon NaturallySpeaking or some kind of alternatives on Linux.
linux is currently the most advanced desktop operating system out there.. it may not have the aftermarket software it deserves, but the only reason for that is the number of idiots still with windows garbage
its spelled tourettes, and how in any way would you assume he has it? is he yelling? is he swearing? is he making random twitchy noisess? no, he just has an accent, probably indian. way to insult 2 kinds of people

No, it can surely be made into something useful by the almighty community. Eventually. Very, very eventually. Maybe even our "IT-speech" department at the University of Uppsala (Sweden) could be persuaded to contribute, I'll even point on of their postdocs to it.
Do you think you can tackle that? Community is not almighty. Does your university have student exchange and english classes? Got any good links on speech recognition/sythesis? Thanks.
this is kind off topic, but how do you do to use your mic as input for gnome-vocie-control and also as input for the soft.that record you desktop? I need to record my gnome-voice.control in spanish but i only able tu use the input from mic with one program...
Wow, this is really impressive! I wonder how well this would work with a more neutral accent... Also, I wonder if more work could be done to rename commands for clarity. For example, "new" and "view" sound too much alike. "New" could be renamed "begin" or "create"
Maybe the software would work better if the user was a native English speaker...
(Cara, sua pronúncia em inglês precisa melhorar um pouco... Às vezes o problema do programa seja esse... Mas mesmo assim é um belo trabalho! Continue desenvolvendo e, quem sabe, um que funcione em PORTUGUÊS)
Well I guess this is only the first step, it's actually the first time I see something similar for Gnome, so we'll just have to wait a bit more, I'm sure we'll see a very cool product :)
