  • The Epiphone 2010 model G400 standard 62 Sg is still conciderd to this day by professional guitarist to be the best standard Sg out there. And that's right Gibson fans even better than the Gibson standard Sg. Also the 2011 model Epiphone limited edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Sg reissues are preferred by a country mile over the Gibson model by Vintage guitar collector's. These are facts not some empty opinion. Gibson on the most part hasn't made a better guitar than Epiphone since 2008.

  • When you read just 'SG' or just 'LES PAUL' its about an epi..so don't click

  • @kostasssism

the 400 part might be a clue?

  • Part-2 todays Epiphone SG's and Lp's are Crafted with the very best of woods and Electronics. They are also by far better than today Gibson Models Hands down and there going to continue to climb the latter os sucess. EPI's only down fall is under priced

  • Todays Epiphone G-400 Custom sg. The G-400 Standard 62sg. The Limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Reissue sg. And the G-400 Limited Edition 66 sg. Every one of these Epiphone sg's are with out any doubt much better than todays Gibson sg Models.

  • tidy!

  • is it balanced? like neck vs body

  • @benthewren I Believe he has a leather strap, from as-far as I know it's just the Gibsons that are balanced, Epiphones neckdive without any strap

  • @benthewren Usually on SG style guitars the neck weighs more that the body.

  • is the neck a whopper on yours mine is like a really full neck

  • Epiphone rules! I totaly love mine. The mexican fenders arnt bad either!

  • Epiphone has been a part of gibson usa since 1957. The 2010 model epiphone g-400 standard 1962 sg is conciderd by many pro guitarist to be the better sg over the gibson standard sg. I also agree with that for shure!

  • Blindmkd theres only 2 guitar companys in the whole world that make the real sg's and they are Gibson USA and Epiphone. Cant go wrong with eaither one but for me i would go with epiphone befor i would gibson.

  • is this the one that says les paul on the headstock?

  • Nice man!

  • Nice blues and nice guitar. I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom, and it sounds amazing too.

  • Great guitar and well played :)

  • Very sweet playing :)

  • Very nice guitar

  • im getting one for crimbo if i can find one!!! :D

  • @BikeTrial1995 Guitar Center, Sam Ash, sure you can get one right there . Im wanting that one too.

  • nice playing man

  • :( its not a gibson

  • Goddamn dude, kick that things ass. :3

  • dude epiphones are gay get gibson. i have the gibson versoin of tht

  • @timluwis21 gibsons are also like a grand. most people dont have the money to spend on that.

  • @bigredonedday Gibsons are way more than a grand. I paid 1100 for my Studio

  • @Glockenator touche. still makes my point though.

  • @timluwis21 You're an idiot. Gibson has been making Epiphones for years, and not everybody can afford a 3800 dollar Gibson. And just because you don't like them, doesn't mean you have to insult other people. I hate Fender, but I don't say they're gay and piss on videos demoing them

  • @timluwis21 And......? Congrats if you have a Gibson, but im pretty sure that u don't know how to use it :)

  • @timluwis21 your a retard. epiphone is made by gibson.

  • @timluwis21 spoken like a 14 year old.

  • @timluwis21 The only way you have a Gibson version of this is if you have the Gibson Les Paul custom from 1961 , since this guitar is based on that model . If you have a Gibson Les Paul 1961 and still playable , contact the company , they will surely want to take a photo of it , since most of the 61' models are not in a playable shape.

  • @BlindMkd Or you have one of thousands of reissues they've made? Which you realise, unless you're being intentionally thick? Which would make me a twat for not getting it sooner.

  • @pangborn25 There were no reissues of the Les Paul under Gibson. The Epiphone's SG-400 Custom is the only one who has "Les Paul Custom Reissue " printed on the neck . The other models are just SG - because after 61st model sir Les Paul requested that the new type of bodies are not called LP .

So this is quite the unique peace of Epiphone guitar . Would want to put a grip on the Gibson's 61 tho :).

  • @BlindMkd Go on guitar center's website and look up SG Custom stopbar. Read that truss rod cover for me, real slow-like.

  • @pangborn25 You are right , sir.

I admire your knowledge which surpassed mine in the certain area :) .

  • @BlindMkd Hey, If we were talking vintage you'd be right. Still don't know why they put "Les Paul" on the cover though. Not like anybody recognizes it as "Oooh! That's a 1961 Les Paul Custom reissue!" Nope, it's an SG. And it's white. Ha!

  • @timluwis21 smh bro just smh

  • Oh.. It's an Epiphone.. Lol..

  • i bet he dosent have an xbox!

  • Very good demo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

  • What the name of this song ?????

  • beautiful. I have a SG 400 LP custom maestro and cant get it to sound anything like this lol maybe a few more years experience will do the trick :-)

  • guitarfreakable?

by the sg custom .. has better sound than the melody maker .. the epiphone has alnico pickups and melody maker doesn't.. besides there's is only one pickup on the melody maker.

  • very very good. i have this same guitar. a 1990. i would bump up the gauge of your strings though, you were over-bending in some places.

  • Should i buy this over the Gibson Melody Maker? I dont know which is the best! Please answer quickly!

  • @GuitarFreakable And i have an epiphone LP std so i just want a guitar with a bit crunchy sound, if you know what i mean!

  • mmm i would go with the SG, it hasmore options as to which pickup you can use but the overal sound is good if not better, just because its a Gibson dosn't mean its better(: Hope i helped.

  • Should i buy this guitar, or the gibson melody maker?

  • Are you Irish?

  • He sounds like he's from The Wirral due to not so harsh scouse accent

  • I was born in Liverpool, raised in Liverpool and have worked in Bootle for 4 years lol. Currently in South Yorkshire...

  • @Nihalla Ah right, you sound quite a bit like a Birkonian but, it can be difficult to distinguish, nevermind. Great videos by the way!

  • @Nihalla impossible!!

  • @Nihalla Where did you buy the guitar?

  • @Nihalla Where from ? I looked around and was going for much more.

  • @Nihalla What can you tell me of this guitar?

  • this one sounds way better than those crappy epiphone special sg's

  • this is a good guitar???

Who is the best?Les Paul custom or Sg custom???please...send me tips for buy.

  • depends on what sound ur lookin for.

les paul basically has a fuller sound while the SG has a thinner sound.

  • and dont forget Gibson usa has owned Epiphone guitars since 1957.

  • what do you think is better a standard g400 or a g400 les paul custom?

  • You gotta get out there and play them for yourself! That's the only true way to tell.

  • more better the custom one, i have those 2

  • Why?

  • much

  • G400 Les Paul Custom-by far. thats just my opinion.

  • 1 pickup and aesthetics I believe.

  • Comment removed

  • yeeeeaaaahhhhhh you rock!!!!

  • ohh man i can't wait for 2morrow iam getting one of these tried it in the store and it rocked

  • Is it a epiphone g400 ?

  • yeah, a custom

  • im thinking of getting this or a fender hss strat as a backup guitar. which do you think would be better? any suggestions? thanks!

  • :D SG!! sounds GREAT and looks GZUZ like !!

  • personally i think sg's are far better than strats. but since u are saying back up guitar, i would go with an strat HSS as it is more versatile

  • is that the 1 with les paul on the headstock? there awesome

  • If god had a guitar, this would be it.

  • lol I have gods guitar :)

  • Its very weird but I don't really like the early Clapton stuff, I listen to the Solo and later things but i guess you can hear that in Eric's playing now as his style may have changed over the years but its still "him".

    Thanks for all the comments!

  • Slightly Hendrix like but I get the sense that you listen to a lot of early Clapton recordings, your style and tone are very reminiscent of how he played when he was young.

  • en achetant cette guitare je me raproche de mon rêve encore un peut plus: avoir la gibson sg angus young signature xD

  • Very Hendrix-ish.

  • i think hendrix had a white sg wit gold hardware on it

  • I saw that same guitar at the local pawn shop. It was an used one but it looked like a new, and I tried it out and it sounded awesome. It cost 300 canadians bucks, is this a good price for a used one?

  • Not sure what the exact Canadian dollar to american is, but for what it's worth I bought my Epiphone SG G-400 Custom for 300$ used here in America, and got a hardcase thrown in for free.

  • Damn son!!! you make my playing look like chop sticks.

  • that is a good guitar!!

    GOOD PLAYING

    !!!

  • wicked guitar wicked skills!

  • dude wicked guitar, wicked skills. I wish I could play that good

  • Thanks for all the comments! Stunned at 28,000 views!

  • yo great playing, do you know where i can check one of these out cause i cant find em ANYWHERE

  • I have this guitar and love love love love it. Although getting used to the added pick-up takes a little while, learning not to pick so deep can help your playing. Definitely worth looking into if you can find one, I got mine about 2-3 years ago.

  • fullers guitar Houston Tx.Go to the site and order one if you can wait...499$

  • pretty cool guitar but i think the white is a bit over the top. i was surprised when i saw how affordable it was in the shop though

  • I got a question, plz reply back !

I am buying that guitar, and I use the tremol alot, so i was wondering if I should get locking tunners, or does the guitar stay in tune nicely !

Thx alot , nice vid !

  • from what I've heard about this guitar is it stays in tune well without being set up. so I wouldn't get locking tuners. but it's your guitar.

  • I'd suggest you look for a guitar with a floyd rose bridge and some locking tuners is u want ur guitar to stay in tune.

  • What is more alike to the guitar's color, a yellowish or a white pearl?

  • its a cream color

  • antique ivory

  • love your tone... i have been thinking of getting an sg & seriously considering the epi custom 3 pup..any issues or are you satisfiefd w/ the price/quality..?

  • ive got this guitar and im in love with it. keep shreddin man

  • i love this guitar, i got it today and im loving it!

  • whered you get it i thought guitar center was out

  • are they the stock pickups in there?

  • yep

  • Epi SGs and Gibson LPs are awesome

  • @Kh501pr I take it you own an Epi SG but on the Les paul you decided that it had to be a Gibson :) I can't wait to get my Gibson, I'm currently in posession of 2 middle of the range Ibanez's which are nice, But I think I'm ready to have a Gibson, deserving infact :)

  • I've not had any tuning problems, as long as the nut is cut correctly and the strings are stretched when new ones are put on its fine.

  • i love this guitar. i'm thinking of getting it.

does this guitar go out of tune easily?

    please respond.

  • it has no tremolo and oil-tuners so it doesnt get out of tune easily

  • hey ive got the same guitar on the top thick strings E,A,D is it supposed to be very bass like and really deep and the rest are fine is this normal with the third pickup or is there a problem

  • But his "sound" was created with Cream in the 60's on SG's, 335's and Les Pauls. One of his most iconic guitars was the "Fool" SG. The current Clapton Signature Strat has a 25db mid boost to emulate the humbuckers found on most Gibsons.

  • Utter bliss, I love Claptons work and his contribution to Rock and blues. I'm thinking of buying this guitar used for $450 would you say its a good deal?

  • he also used sg....

  • think before you post next time?

  • this guitar is best for clapton type stuff which your playing and also Sabbath type metal stuff..trust me I play everything from Robert Johnson to Rage Against The Machine on this guitar and it's sweeeet

  • Hi ganag...I have a new video of this guitar up now...have a look at my other vids to find it.

  • yeah i looked a vid that your guitar has only 2 pickups , so i want to buy this guitar but i want to play hard rock and some people told me that this guitar it's bad to play rock they said that the pickup of the middle make dirt the sound what do you think about?

  • Just don't use the middle pick-up then. Think of it as one you get for free!

  • Hey i have the 2004 edition of this guitar nd i mainly play thrash metal and it is the perfect rock machine. It is also the guitar Tomi Iommi used in the paranoid video so....

  • @bobhugeone Even in Iron Man!!

  • @bobhugeone Even in Iron Man!!

  • what is the colour of your guitar? antique ivory? ask me soon

  • what is the colour of your guitar? antique ivory?..........lol

  • i didn't ask u

  • It is indeed listed on the Epiphone website as Antique Ivory...

  • lols u said ask me soon.

  • haha i'm not english i'm spanish so i thik everyone has undertnds me xddd

  • i love that guitar. iv seen one exactly like that at my local gutiar store for months. i dont know how its still there.

  • Hello everyone, thx for all the comments!

An update: I have indeed put a big scratch plate on and gone for just two pick-ups. the middle one just wasn't "different" enough in the end. it never really got in the way but it wasn't getting used! I do really like this guitar, it may eventually get a pick-up swap but they are fine for now. It cost me about £170.

look out for a new video of it with the two pick-ups and some better sound within a couple of weeks!

  • £170???!!!???!!!

    wow

please can you tell me where you got it cos im looking out for a cheap one of these

    was it seccond hand??

  • nice man i have a question about the guitar, is it good because i was thinking of getting it and also does the middle pick up ever get in the way of your pick?

  • You deserve much better that that guitar !

  • if you dont use the middle pu, you could by a big pickguard an put the middle pu away. :) It would looks nice and you could better play without the middle pu.

  • how much is it

  • I also have one of this guitar. Plays very well, but the sound of the stock-pickups was very crap.

So i've changed it to seymour duncans ('59 in the neck and sdcustom in the bridge; i never use the middle).

    And now it rocks :).

  • please can anyone tell me what the advantages of having three pickups on a guitar are???

also, are the stock pickups 'humbuckers' when u buy this guitar?

please can anyone get back to me on that : )

  • Ofcousre there humbuckers.

  • more tonal options

  • Play the damn thing louder. You can't tell what it sounds like at all at this volume. If you can hear the strings clacking around you're not hearing the genuine tone.

  • amp?

  • wooo! im gettin it 4 xmas

  • I have this guitar its freaking awsome. You can put a ton of distortion and its crystal clear. [Probably because the three pickups] It is really good with acdc, greenday, and guns n roses type sound.

  • im gonna try and get one tomorrow any one think i should forget this and get the les paul style standard ? but they're both epiphones just so you know . i've always wanted one with 3 pickup set up but now im not too sure

  • thats awesome 12 bar blues. i can do that improv sorta stuff on piano, realy wish i could do it like that on guitar though. how'd u get that good on guitar? this is a question for everyone, would you recommend guitar lessons or teaching yourself if you want to get good?

  • I tried this in the store was gonna get it but instead i got the les paul standard

  • is everything stock on your axe?

  • HEY, I have the same guitar as u :D

I bought it off a guy that lived back in the sticks for $400 and it came with a Gibson Les Paul case. The case wasnt made for the guitar but it fits very good. I thought that was a pretty good deal.

  • i av that guiitar 2 !!!

  • How much?

  • cost was £200!!

  • nice playing there dude! i have the same guitar as you! but i have changed the mic's.

  • Because when it was released in 1961 it was a Les Paul. It was to replace the version we all know. It was not known as the SG until a little later.
