i find it impossible not to feel calm inside after listenig to to this video. putting aside the lyrics, his voice is just so, so very warm. makes you think the one singing is someone close to you. "you were a daugter to me", huh.
weird... with that hair and glasses he reminds me too much of julian casablancas.. the guy from the strokes... and it's just because a friend is crazy about him -JC- but I don't like him and I hate that Conor reminds me of him.... weird :S
this guys is awesome, I cannot keep up with his output and it's not exactly my style i go for more sardonic stuff lol but the solo album this song is from is just great i love all the songs.
i presume you are all havin a laugh..the guy cant write a note. he's just putting a load of words together. anyone can do that. dylan's songs are full of soul and have a rich musical quality. This guy has no musical ability - its just stringing words together. no talent needed for that. the real talent comes from finding a killer tune to put the words to - dylan was a master of this. please stop devaluing the word "genius".
@raymartin10 All I have to say to you good sir is..... "Don't like it don't watch, nevermind post comments JUST to annoy people on youtube. seriously."
@raymartin10 I invite you to look down the entire comments list. I never once mentioned it. Looks like you may also need to read before you post. sorry
@raymartin10 Bob Dylan, I agree was pretty awesome, but he sang about revolution while putting filler between his lyrics about politics and society. Get fucked and stopped humping Minnesota's finest.
how anyone can like this is beyond me. please dont compare him to dylan. that should be made illegal. this music is tuneless - just stick to poetry or something. he shouldnt be allowed near a microphone.
the difference between conor and dylan, is dylan had more worldly problems to sing about such as the Vietnam war and stuff, where as conor talks a lot about himself, but it works out because conor is able to actually make a song show the emotion hes feeling, you c an hear one of his songs and you can feel the depression hes feeling or the joy or w/e.
Agreed. Dylan was a revolutionary and changed people's lives during the 60/70s. It was almost like a movement. Lyrically Conor is absolutely phenomenal. But he still isn't as known as Dylan and probably won't be. I love both.
GOD DAMN. I love this song! Everything he does never ceases to amaze me. I still like Bright Eyes more, but this is still incredible. And he is reallyyyy hot, just the way he looks and the way he sings and the way his mouth moves
I think what everyone means by "the Dylan of today" is that he's just as superior of a songwriter. He doesn't sound anything like Dylan. Which is neither a good, or bad thing! He sounds like Conor which is something purely amazing. I love you Conor. No Lies, Just Love.
Man, I really like hearing him live. A lot bands/artists are bad live because they're so loud with all the different instruments. But this...it's so calm. And usually, so is the music at concerts.
3:53-3-58. I love how he really gets into it there.
Ok so he is the most incredible lyricist I've ever come across, his music has changed my life and he puts an amazing amount of emotion into his songs but, christ, does he look HOT in this video.
@thtsritesun1212 I agree with you that other artists play a much more "dylanesque" style but Bob Dylan was an artist in a constant phase of transformation. His body of work is so broad and Conor Oberst reminds me of that. The ever changing tambourine man.

@ritalate Ah, one of those "comparisons are odious" parrots. All we have to base our opinions off is the past, so that's what Rolling Stone and I did.
