Amo tutti i film di Kubrick ugualmente (Arancia meccanica un pò di più) e sono tutti dei capolavori,ma visivamente Barry Lyndon credo sia il film esteticamente più bello e perfetto che abbia mai visto e che mai sia stato fatto. Un quadro in movimento davvero,ma è scandaloso che non abbia preso nemmeno un oscar: anzi è scandaloso che gentaglia prenda oscar alla regia e vengano dimenticati e Kubrick non ne abbia preso neanche uno alla carriera. i dont like is that their facings (the inside of the coats) are white, while in reality they were red. it's funny that kubrick the perfectionist didnt know this. and i think the prussian army is criitzed too much. ive read a book about the seven years war, which said that the prussian soldiers were WAY better than the Austrians and the Russians, who tormented farmers for fun and raped. However, i am VERY glad that kubrick let the world know about the Prussians and how superb they were in battle

Non essere così precipitoso nei giudizi. Giudicare qualcosa, soprattutto un'uomo, non è mai facile. E' vero che Barry ha sbagliato nel comportarsi così di fronte ai Lyndon, però è anche vero che ha avuto anche tante ingiustizie in passato che lo hanno costretto ad una vita difficile che non avrebbe mai desiderato.

Whilst soldiers in the enemies' armies were commanded by - often changing - generals, the Prussian soldiers had THEIR OWN KING as commander, a commander that would share the hardship & risks in the field. Often officers had to restrain Frederick from exposing himself too much to risk during battle. The Prussian citizens amongst the Prussian soldiers loved their king, they had no criminal background.

Yes, they were all brutal. This was mainly because the troops were often unwilling, prone to desert (often they had been enlisted by force) and often came from criminal backgrounds.
