Arguably one of the best tv footie themes from an exciting era. ITV London viewers had 'Star Soccer' with Peter Lorenzo at the mike before the late Brian Moore on The Big Match.

The Big Match ...for some reason I always remember Don Rodgers and Swindon...dunno why!

Slighltly drunk staccato fanfare and superb drumming don't recall "more innocent times" but more wholesome ones.

I guess LWT wanted to launch the show with colour titles but, not having their own library had to use Pathé News footage of World Cup '66 & the '68 European Cup Final. But it looks like they did shoot the Chelsea vs Arsenal scenes themselves.

Nice though. I've seen B&W titles on a LWT fansite I guess from 70/71.

I heard this piece on a television advert here in the States back in the mid '90s. Forgot what it was for, but this song was totally retro. :oP
