I see what you're getting at with your questioning about service programs. I like Obama's example of how he will give students tons of money for college if they give back with community service, service in the military, etc. Giving back to the country is a great thing to do. Incentive is much better than force.

Giuliani for example, did not run on, "I want war"--but his advisor Podhoretz went on the record that he'd asked Bush to bomb Iran before leaving office.

In the mid-east-"talks with preconditions" is code for "no talks". We have no need to bomb Iran, and it seems McCain might get us into such a war, just like Bush did, with devastating effects.

After 8 years of Bush, I think all these people who think they are supporting change are in for a very rude awakening. I'd read it, along with predicting the post-Iraq inflation *before* Ron Paul's candidacy.

Nevertheless, different factions of the elite, are different factions, with different effects on society. In some sections of Ireland during the famed potato famines,because of rent-forgiveness, no one died. I cannot help but think that calm, intelligent, and compassion-oriented Obama is going to be better for our country than ill-informed, resentment-and-fear-mongering McCain/Palin.
