  • remember this was workin round the corner ha love these guys brilliant cornish shanties the best

  • Who needs the Dubliners when you've got these fellas ??

  • LOVE THE FISHERMANS FRIENDS AND THE FANTASTIC CORNISH SEA SHANTIES...GOD I LOVE CORNWALL!

  • @sobye96 I feel exactly the same !!

  • makes me proud to be partly cornish :)

  • What could be better than sitting by the sea with a few friends and loved ones... a couple of drinks and listening to this as the sun comes down. Sometimes the simple things in life really are the best.

  • class!!!

  • the 10 people that dislike this video either clicked on the wrong button or they are Justin Bieber fans

  • I love how the jumping kids group grows over the course of the video. And the little one in the pink 0:13 runs to secure a safe place for her doll in order to better participate in the song.

  • I really want to watch these guys at Port Isaac. I guess I'll have to wait until next year though.

  • Remember when this was one of only 3 sea chanteys on you tube?

  • Absolutely excellent, brilliant, ace ... Just made me smile and jig along and want to leap into the air with the kids! Joy and smiles! Not only for keeping our music alive and passing it on in this way but for making ME feel so good THANK YOU!

  • great stuff...also,check out my new song 'gypsy christmas' hit on gypwin..cheers

  • Put fishermans friend in Amazon.co.uk website and choose your CD.

This track does not do justice to a great group of singers. I guess they do this track as a crowd pleaser , and to keep kids attention. Many other songs by them are much better.

  • @Wigeon2007 Sorry - you're off beam. This is a traditional shanty, not a "kids' song". And this is the group as they actually sound, performing in their hometown, rather than smothered by over-the-top production and instrumentation as featured on their album on the Universal label. This IS Fisherman's Friends.

  • Which one sings the bass???

  • Just bought two albums by the fishermans freinds of amazon! loving it, great work lads

  • Now that is Talent!

  • Oh, I like this! Can I get your album in Sweden I wonder?? Thank you Fisherman´s friend

  • @ingmo9 you can get it from HMV and stuff :)

  • where was this at?

  • @crozof

As it says in the description, it was on the beach at Port Isaac, Cornwall, UK, on Friday September 1 2006.

  • Good version

  • I read in the Sun newspaper that these guys are getting signed to the same music label as Lady GaGa. Universal Music. Also, universal are looking for singing nuns for a tribute to the Pope on his visit to London.

  • i love that the kids are jumping around to a song about a drunk ass sailor!

  • Absolutely wonderful! I love it and hope to hear more from them in near future! Best wishes from Germany.

  • Great to see the children having fun :)

  • This singers are the new Universal Music band !! Congratulations !! Cheers from Brazil !!

  • Just love it!

    Thanks for posting!

  • almost in tears at the end of that, fantastic stuff... long live traditional music!

  • Man I remember singing this at the pub when I was a kid, love it!

  • We used to sing this in primary school, usually during PE.

  • Quite possible. Fishermen's Friends are from Port Isaac.

  • Looks like Port Isaac on the north Cornish coast..

  • where is this taken too this is cool

  • Makes me shiver, Guys! This is so wonderful.

  • best version ive heard, great harmony, and the bass line rocks!!

  • I dont think its out of sync :P When we did it we were allways slightly late! Good stuff!

  • Arr matey !

  • lol love the little girl in pink! running around so happy!

  • awesome :)

  • Beastly good!

  • This is quality - what a fun bunch of old salts!!! up she rises..!

  • That's cute. Now when I hear the hooray up she raises, I jump up too! I'd be so in the sailor moode if I saw that at the beach too. Good Song

  • Cool:)

  • Awesome... y'arr salty dogs

  • Super ! :)

  • The 'Net hungers for natural, acapella versions of fine sea shanties like this. Kudos to the singers and all who helped put this online.

  • brilliant!

  • what is with the kids jumping up?

  • This is my question too :D

  • The jump at the word up.

  • Trying to get the kids involved with a sea shanty about what to do with someone who can't hold his liquor? *Loves it*

  • (to rjw1111)

The kids jump when the singers say "and up she rises".

But as Widds said, the video and the sound are out of synch.

  • its anoying i love this type of music but there is so little of it on cd most of it is in the salors heads

  • I love sea shanties! You guys should come to Brazil!

  • Being from Port Isaac myself its nice to see something from such a small village being put on something as big as as global as youtube.

Thank you for appreciating great cornish talent.

  • Great!!!!very very good!I like the Song!Greets from Germany(Berlin)

  • loool thats great (= wanna know the lyrix =P

  • Do a google search for the Mudcat Cafe...they have a lyrics database with all these tunes

  • There is an album for sale on the web - can't post the URL, but go to chanteycabin dot co dot uk and you'll find Fishermen's Friends listed there, along with lots of other great maritime music.
