They reproduce fast (laying 10,000 eggs per go), and eat everything in sight (including the stucco off the walls of houses). That's not the worst of it. They're hosts to bacteria that cause meningitis in people, and they secrete a toxin. As a result, their slime, their bodies, and their poop is considered a major biohazard. You're supposed to wear gloves when handling them.
