I'm very introverted as well. I would see people that I know and duck my head, pretending I didn't know they're there as I walked by. I realized that it was stupid, so I started to set the goal to look people in the eye and smile while walking by, then added "Hey!" as I became more comfortable with it, then added "How are you?" and continued to add on until I became more acustomed to it. I'm still not completely comfortable talking, but at least I don't get accused of being a snob anymore.
