i have a question, i wanted to be a csar pilot but active duty and not be stationed at moody, and this one guy told me moody afb GA is the only active duty rescue wing, the others like in NY, AK, and CA arn't full time or active. so my question is, that if you want CSAR to be a full time job, the only base you have an option to go to is moody?? To be honest it's not that i don't like georgia its just that id live on long island or alaska where the other ones are and stil be active duty
There's also Arizona (Davis-Monthan) as well as Kadena, Japan for active duty HH-60's. The Guard also has full-time jobs. Plus you can expect a staff tour and even switch to another airframe (like UAV's) in your career, or go to the schoolhouse in New Mexico, so I wouldn't worry about spending 20 years at Moody.
The HH-60G is a fine piece of machine, but an HH-47G would a lot better. Plus, its better to stand up than sit and be on one knee on 4-5+ hour missions. Trust me, I'm an aerial gunner on the 60.
Women have a place is US Air Force Special Operations Command. Maybe it's not as "sexy" as this but in no way less important and crucial for the mission success.
Yeah I would also like to be in the foreground, in the middle of the action. But remember that everyone is doing an important job. I'm sure as hell the helo mechs are just as satisfied of the job they do, even if it's not as sexy and interesting for the media.
Still every one in AFSOC is a professional. And that's something to be proud of.
Join the Air Force, who knows, maybe you could do some of the things ;]
Women can be flight crew on the HH-60G Pavehawk helicopters. That's the helicopter that you see in the video. I'm a Flight Engineer (in training) on them and I know of quite a few women that have served on them.
how old you have to be to try out to be a pj?? can you try to be one right after you finish basic training in the air force or do you have to be a certian age to try to be one?
true, good call :)

I think Moody is not the only base. The other one I know is Hurlburt Field, FL

I wish we could do something that actually has to do with parachuting and going out to save people though. Not just like in the background.

I'm in AFJROTC at the moment but just two more years left so...
Thanks though. I guess you do make a very good point about them all being important though. What career are you in? Military at all?

Everything is eighter on the net (kids are so lazy today) or simply go and talk to a recruiter.
Slacking will not get a person through "The Pipeline", hard work will.
MH6M 3 years ago
so true.
Paramedic229 3 years ago
lol do they come for army pilots?
gandhimtb 4 years ago
If need be - Yes.
MH6M 4 years ago
in the movie "Black Hawk Down" it was CSAR that came for the pilots, not Army Rangers, and 3 members died
maxdragonn 3 years ago
The CSAR bird was a Night Stalker helo packed with Rangers and two Air Force PJs.
MH6M 3 years ago
then i suppose an army ranger got an air force cross along with the other 2 that died
maxdragonn 3 years ago
Only two people got a AFC that day, a PJ and a CCT.
The bird was an Army MH-60L. The only Air Force personel on the ground that day were two PJs and one or two CCT (or TACP, not sure).
The Rangers in the rescue helo were there to provide security.
Plus you are refering to a movie, I'm refering to the real events of operation "Gothic Serpent". So please, be so nice and stop the B/S.
MH6M 3 years ago
The quality of the PJ's is second to none. These guys are the real deal. Thank you for your service.

I absolutely agree, my cousin is a PJ and I'm sure he would appreciate your comment.
