hey, i'm having a similar noise at idle, but once I spin up the blades, the noise goes away. did the noise persist when your blades were spinning? I have the Align 600 LE with OS50.
@taurustbolt Yes, it went away after spinning up the blades. Take out your OS50 and check the bearings. You can't feel if the bearings are toast without taking the engine to bits. I thought mine were fine, but upon taking it to bits the rear bearing was screwed.
The reason for the noise is that the crankshaft vibrates alot at idle with a bad rear bearing. Thus causing the clutch to vibrate against the clutch bell and make the terrible noise. Once up to speed its fine of course.
@loiphin I pulled everything off the engine but the bearings out so far. Front one is very smooth, rear is kinda notchy. It still spins and doesn't look like it is coming apart just yet. I'm going to drop in a new rear just to be safe. Could a minor notchy feeling be enough to make that noise at idle?
@taurustbolt Yeah, notchy = toast. Your engine can run at 20,000rpm , and the bearings must be completely smooth running. I am pretty sure thats whats causing the problem. If you dont change it, you will risk destroying the crankshaft, like I did!
Hahahahahahaha bearing my arse!!!!!!!!!!!! Check your fan shroud I recon there will be tracks cut from your fan touching, probably because it come loose or a pice broke off, tell me I am wrong?????????????
@pitotoy07 I will give you a tip that will save you money, try after run, it costs about $5 and you wont need to replace bearings every two weeks!!! Do you change your bearings In your car every 50th time you drive it???
Wow, that really sounds bad! I can't wait to put my Trex 600 together, but waiting for a friend to finish another project so he can fix his Pantera. I got a Raptor Titan and a few other heli's to keep me busy for now ^^
wow that bearing was really fucked eh. I heard that noise in my own heli once and unfortunately it started during flight and resulted in a less than pleasant landing.
I managed to fix the problem. It was a toasted rear bearing in the OS .50 Max engine. This caused an oscillating crankshaft, which in turn vibrated the clutch bell like hell.

Your clutch is backwards! The edges are catching the liner.
