  • I have an extremely high number of small, dense LDL particles, and something called the "Widow Maker" and I'm VERY WORRIED about it. I'm a thin and short man...150 pounds and 5'6". Every day I feel like if may be my last if I have a heart attack and drop dead.

  • @jarden69 The best way to improve that small, dense LDL percentage in your body is to eat more fat, especially saturated fat, cut your carbohydrates down to less than 20g daily, and moderate your protein intake. This doesn't have to be a death sentence for you, but you gotta take the initiative. Email me at livinlowcarbman at charter dot net if you want to send your sample menus.

  • @livinlowcarbman Thank you for your advice and positive support.

  • spot on CORRECT............way to go .......i won't touch statins crap even though I am really busted on the cholesterol.....they screw you up in other areas.

i sorted mine out by taking "pure wild honey" daily.....inflammation on CRP test was 0.47 mg/L.......and half a liter of fresh unpasteurized goat's milk daily.....great work guys...THIS IS THE TRUTH FOR ALL TO WATCH

  • the first 2 minutes of this vid is a waste

  • @FutureLaugh It's called capturing your attention and having some fun. Lighten up dude. :)

  • It's not the LDL to HDL ratio that is as important as the triglyceride to HDL ratio which should be 1-1.

  • I could not agree more. Oxidation in the body is like rust on metals. It only damages and damages until it crumbles and breaks. Not good for you body!

  • I love your videos, but just one "technical" comment: the microphone feed is a little distorted. I don't know if your mic is too close or too high, but I hope you can check it out.

  • Oh, I agree, Mark! That just started a few episodes ago and it's driving me NUTS trying to figure out why it's happening. Still working on it, but we're doing videos in the meantime. The microphone is built in to the computer.

  • Awesome Video!

  • We appreciate you watching! This is the video I wish would get out there far and wide on the Internet because it's the TRUTH!

  • Oh yeah, I just bought some of the atkins deserts in Sam's Club the other day. OMG, the chocolate coconut bars are YUMMY! lol

  • They also have a good variety pack of bars at Sams. I haven't had a bar in 3 years. They definitely taste a lot better these days. I'm going to try the chocolate coconut next time I'm in there.

  • I have been struggling really bad for the last week trying to get over a plateau. I have been on my atkins diet for alittle over a month and have lost 30 lbs, but now i'm stuck and it seems like no matter what I do, the scale isn't budging. It's SOOoooo frustrating!! lol Do you have any suggestions about getting over a plateau. I still have another 80-90 lbs to lose, so any information would be highly appreciated. By the way, thanks so much for your video's, its VERY helpful :)

  • after induction your weight loss slows down, thats the way it goes. If you are not loosing any weight at all and are following the diet by the book (you have the book right?) then might be that your body is trying to adapt to your new weight, give it 3 to 4 weeks to stabilize, then you will start loosing weight again. If you are not following the diet by the book, go to ebay, buy it for .99 cents and while you wait for it to arrive into your mailbox, get back into induction. this should work

  • Adaptation does kick in which is why I had 10 weeks of weight loss stall during my 180-pound weight loss in 2004. Just push though this and you'll be good to go. I addressed stalls in Episode 12: j7QzJWqOMF0

  • Leslie, you are NOT alone and we JUST did a video about this in Episode 68: Go watch it now--KKqmsz6GQeQ

  • I am watching this while eating a choco perfection bar for the first time... I am in week 2 of induction and have lost 8lbs. All I can say is WOW to all you have broadcast and "thank you" & Christine for all the information you provide. I love the science behind why this lifestyle works. I also love telling people that I'm the Atkins plan and seeing their reaction - most will go on and on about how it's so bad. The meat, egg and cheese diet they THINK it is. Silly carb eaters! :) Thanks Moores!

  • THANK YOU for watching! The neat thing about TRUTH is it is what it is no matter what people think about it. One day their eyes will be open to it and they'll be coming to YOU for the answers. :)

  • That´s great! You always do such a good job. You are a good teacher, you really are!

Who else would tell people in some minutes: what´s important about cholesterol?

  • THANK YOU! Christine says it's one of my strongest gifts and I'm happy to use it for a good cause.

  • I generally agree with most of your opinions on this stuff jimmy. I think low carb (but making sure low carb veggies are apart of the diet) is one of the best things you can do for your health. High sugar, high GI carb foods are certainly the worst thing for your health. Many of my friends who also do CR are doing a lower carb version.

  • AWESOME! As long as you are eating healthy saturated fats, moderating your protein intake to around 20-25% of your calories, and keeping carbs to a minimum, then most would agree that's a VERY good diet. :)

  • As Peanut would say, "That's good, that's good, that's goooooood!" :D

  • I haven't read much on particle size and heart attack though... maybe I should do some research into that. I do know that Jewish centenarians have larger HDL particles.

  • And probably MORE HDL than the typical Jew, too. :) A high-fat diet will do that.

  • Hey Jimmy. I follow a CRON diet, i'm sure you've heard of it. Just lots of veggies, fruits, nuts, avoid saturated fat and high GI processed foods. Anyway I don't 'try' to get my cholesterol levels good, it just happens. Here were my last readings :) (my CRP is also 0.2 mg/ L

    Total Cholesterol = 144mg/dl

    HDL = 59mg/dl

    LDL = 74mg/dl

    Triglycerides 53mg/dl

HDL: Total Chol ratio = 2.5

  • CONGRATULATIONS, Matthew! I'm not saying you can't get decent-looking lipids eating any other way than low-carb, but you don't have to resort to avoiding saturated fat for some imaginary fear that it's gonna "clog your arteries" and give you a fatal heart attack. Your numbers are pretty stellar for not taking any medications.

  • Great info. Thanks! My family and I love Jeffafa ! We own 2 of his videos. I would love to see him in person..

  • We got to see him LIVE in Asheville, NC in late March.

  • Thanks for the info! I'm just reading through good calories, bad calories and sometimes the cholesterol thing is confusing. I'm tryint to convince my mom that coconut oil is healthy! "all that saturated fat!" and "eating so much meat". Its hard enough to explain that I've only cut sugars and starches not added tons of meat. I eat more veggies now than I ever have, even at breakfast - a cup or more of fresh spinach with eggs and swiss cheese is heavenly! and dont forget the butter LOL

  • Don't try to absorb too much info too fast. Just pace yourself and add a little more info to your brain each day. Eventually, full understanding will come. I'm still working on it, too.

As for the fat thing, just let her know that when you remove carbohydrates from your diet, the way you fuel your body is with dietary fat that is completely healthy and harmless as long as you eat a low-carb diet with it. Wisdom comes from understanding which comes from experience. I'm proud of you!

  • Awesome, I think it'd be great since a lot of people think you can't have veggies on low carb.

  • Oh, I hit that topic WAYYYYYY back in Episode 3: 4AApLutV44c

  • I totally agree Jimmy. We've been sold a bill of goods. Excellent info you're providing here. One idea for a future vid. I think low carb has a serious PR problem at times, because people think it's that "all meat " diet, etc. I've told people to cut back on sugars and starches. When I say starch they give me this look like "Huh?" Ever consider doing a vid on what starches are? Just a thought.

  • Great idea, lizarman77! I'm doing my best to be a PR mouthpiece for low-carb living and I've hammered the fact that we need to distinguish which veggies are healthy and which are not (starchy vs. non-starchy!). We'll consider this idea.
