Well that's a very subjective question. Many people think that the whale is a majestic creature and are disgusted by those who kill them for commercial profit. Many others think that the way they kill them is cruel, as they shoot the whale with a harpoon grenade that pierces the skin and explodes inside the body. People have different reasons for finding it to be wrong, the important thing is to keep an open mind as to why people may feel the way they do. For most it's a very emotional issue.
The part that is annoying is how they have "research" on the ship. Everybody in the world knows it should read "hunting" and then at least there could be some quotos imposed...instead of them pretending they are doing nothing there.

1) Don't kill animals whose subsistence is in question.
2) Kill quickly and humanely.
3) Replenish.
4) Respect an animal's sanctuary!

Your argument isn't new. Many people on youtube have posted all over about how ppl shouldn't care about whales because cows and pigs are killed every day for consumption. I would like to point out, however, that many people extend their nonviolent attitude to all animals and are vegetarian or vegan. It is also important to say that these whales are killed in incredibly inhumane ways. It takes almost 30 minutes for them to thrash around and eventually die. Cows are slaughtered far more quickly.

What you don't realize is that this is an entirely new generation that is growing up and taking a stand against whaling. It's not that this is a racist move by an entire country against another. It is an attempt by a small section of the global population to stop the slaughter of whales by the japanese. As it stands, the Japanese whaling fleet kills more whales than any other... and thus it is not racist, but pragmatic to attack their ships in order to end the whaling.

Well that's a very subjective question. Many people think that the whale is a majestic creature and are disgusted by those who kill them for commercial profit. Many others think that the way they kill them is cruel, as they shoot the whale with a harpoon grenade that pierces the skin and explodes inside the body. People have different reasons for finding it to be wrong, the important thing is to keep an open mind as to why people may feel the way they do. For most it's a very emotional issue.
