Ships never fly like this in the game, there is never that much action, the AI is horrible most the time. Really all these trailers and professional videos took days to prepare because of all the different ships they made attack each other and fly where ever.

It's nothing like oblivion. Oblivion has smooth gameplay, good story lines, and well scripted AI. The only thing X3 has is probably the best current space simulator graphics(EVE might still be beating it though).

@reka10 The only X3 game is have is Reunion, the storyline in Reunion is horrible, I actually never finished it, it was so bad. The AI is worse in Reunion, but the graphics are pretty much the same.

The X3 games aren't very friendly to users that don't have all day to play, without cheats or mods it takes a lot of time and hard work to get into it.

If it's not action-heavy that's probably the direction it was going, and only people who are okay with slowness are the target audience. Not everything can be your cup of tea, and that's okay. I just don't think it should be mentioned as a bad thing, as it is simply an aspect. Although you never really said it was more than your opinion, I guess. Ah well.

Lots of modifications, and required mechanical gadgets to upgrade. Takes forever to know what's better than the next.

It is hard to learn it even if you are a veteran X2 player .The charm of X series is that there is no time restrictions , i spent like 1(real time) week exploring and enjoying the views ..

The big disappointment of X3 was the lack of docking inside capital ships , i used to have a small mining comoany in X2 ( with TS sellers / miners docking inside an Elephant before jumping ) , this was impossible in X3

acctually X2 was the best of all X series for me. X3:R was new, but it had so much bugs cos of the new X3 Reallity engine, it was too dissapointing.

Now we has this new X3, as i heard it has totally fucked up reputations and rewards, its too easy to level in this game, it got "americanized". A shame :(

Not true. I have played the X series since X2, and this is not the case. It's easier depending on who you start off with, such as an Argon Trader or a Space Pirate, both of which has story enabled. As you can imagine, it would be harder to start off the game as a Pirate then a trader

I've played the game for almost 24 hours gametime, and I'm still nowhere closer to a space station, nor the reputation needed for a really good one.

It's a fun game, and one I'd recommend to you if you like Sims.

I liked X3 a lot but I liked the 3d cinematics of X2 over the pre-rendered movies of X3. It also took too long to afford a battleship in X3 for me. Also think space combat is still kinda unspectacular in X games. They gotta fix those things.

No, this is X3 Terran Conflict, a entirely different game. The only similar things between this and EVE is that it's in space.

actually EVE and X3 are far more similar than they are not. They both have the same objective (throw the player into a sandbox and let them play), both take place in space, both have the same gameplay (think, fight, build, explore), both have amazing graphics, and both have a mountainous learning curve.

The only real big differences between EVE and X3 is that X3 has SETA and is single player.

Nah dude, you have a section in your command console to give commands to the turrets (gun crews supposedly, lol) to either IIRC 1) Hold fire (default) 2) Attack all enemies 3) Defend ship (only attacks ships that have allready fired at you) and 4) Missile Defence (which is supposed to shoot down missiles, but usually fails misiribly, and also acts as defend ship)

Man for this game being a few years old, the graphics still look top notch and you still need a beefy system to play it at high resolutions on max settings, this game has aged well, partially due to it being a space sim.

Actually the Game engine has been improved a bit and it's actually a new game. I love it, it works a lot better than X3 Reunion ever did what with the redesigned systems and the most recent patch helped with issue. Enjoy it, and try to play it if you get the money. Really this game is very much worth your time.

if I'm not mistaken, the F1 key is for switching views. first the turrets if your ship has any, then external view of your ship, then external view of your target.

this way you can check out all the ships and stations and see all the details.

Example: Wolfenstein is a good game, and Panzers is a good game too, but they aren't the same style (FPS-RTS), so they aren't the same, even though they are both WWII games.
