  • Any chance for sheet music?

  • the piano and the violin didn't meet the exquisite standard of the cello playing.

  • Wow! I didn't know about this combination of musicians in chamber music! You always hear of Heifetz, Rubinstein, and Piatigorsky, but not the Menuhins and Gendron. Those were the best groups: soloists playing chamber music. You should see the Dvorak Quintet on my channel if you like good chamber music. The players are also soloists. Thanks for posting this.

  • this is incredible. so well thought out and phrased. beautiful depth and an unhurried (plus not too slow) andante. truly 'andante con moto'.

  • It is impossible for me to express my gratitude for this beautiful performance. I can only say 'thank you so much for posting this'!

  • I love this piece more than any other stunningly beautiful sound

  • 6:02 that shift up...and that note...holy holy holy

  • It makes me cry.

  • are there any similar pieces to this wonder- wonder- wonderful piece of music? I stumbled upon this one by coïncidence and it's one of my favorite classical pieces of all time. I almost never found another piece like this one again. Can anyone recommend me something like this? I hope you can help me out!

  • @waailappe I'd recommend a few of my personal faves that are similar in mood and beauty, imho:

Try Brahms Op 60 movement 3 (Andante) .

Mendelssohn's Piano Trio in D minor has a beautiful 2nd mvt (and the other mvts too!). It's on youtube.

Another great Schubert mvt is the slow mvt of Piano Trio #2!

Schumann Op 44 Mvt 2 - darker and brooding

Hope these aren't too well-known and boring for you! good luck!

  • @waailappe

Be sure to listen to Schubert's a minor string quartet , Deutche listing 804 and his string Quinet in C major, D. 956, whose slow movement may be the most serene and glorious music ever created on our humble earth.

  • enchanted, heavenly celestial, deep soul touching , melodic Schubert at his best. premiered on january, 28, 1828 at the Joseph von Spaun home. wonderful

  • so natural...and so touching then

  • i cry, cry cry when i hear that music played by these musicians...

  • Magical! So much emotion, so maturely performed! PERFECT! Absolutely stunningly perfect. This is what heaven on earth sounds like. Thank you SO MUCH for posting this!

  • this is so wonderful. beauty for my ears :)

  • How old is this performance?

  • 1964 en cherchant sur Google...

  • lol

  • Women have been playing the piano for many years, ever since the sustain lever was moved from its previous position, at waist level, to its current foot-operated configuration.

  • Unfortunately there is no idiot filter on here...

  • I bet this music moved you; I bet you were refreshed by it.

  • Gendron is the one.

  • Intoxicatingly sweet performance!

  • All three play marvellously. Maurice Gendron was am amazing cellist.

  • I first heard this about 20 years ago and it has taken me till now to discover what it is. Truly magnificent - thanks

  • Who is the pianist?

    She is fantastic!

  • She was the sister of Yehudi Menuhin, Hepzebah Menuhin Hauser. A very good pianist, indeed and, incidentally a human rights activist.

  • It is Hephzibah Menuhin, Yehudi's sister. There were three Menuhins: Yehudi, Hephzibah and Yalta. One violinist, two pianists. All three were child prodigies.

  • this is one of my favorite classical pieces. first studied it in a chamber music class (theory). it's really so lovely.

  • On my holiday, I found a lp by Gendron in a flea market. Great (individual tone) player!
