Johnny Depp played his role terrifically. He really acted like a "tourist" not quite in his element that can't believe his luck in having this beautiful woman show an interest in him. The transition later in the film is just spot on. Jolie was wonderful too as the sexy, elegant, mysterious Elise--great chemistry between the two of them.
