Thanks for posting all these videos, they remind me a lot of what I go through with anxiety and depression. It helped me to watch this video about meds -- to see another person benefit from meds.
your social-phobia experience sounds allot like mine and i wanted to ask what antideppressant do you find helps you the most? i took effexor and it helped me out abit. prozac and escitalopram not so much.
@XRvd15X just because he isin't in africa dosent mean his problems are nothing and he just needs to buck up and deal with it. meds are harmfull if you are given them but do no actually have deppression or anxiety. big difference between being sad and being depressed, being just shy and being anxious.
It is dangerous to stop taking Prozac, "cold-turkey". It is ~very important~ to taper off many meds. Seriously, you might want to do some reading on the dire consequences that can be suffered by doing that... BTW did you see the , what was it, an 84 yr old woman who brandished a gun at her old folk's home after she stopped taking her meds? Says a lot about the meds!
Certain foods help fight depression - asparagus, spinach, cabbage, bananas, molasses, brown rice, and apparently honey is supposed to help, but I stopped eating honey and felt better.
When I eat 3+ of these foods per day, mostly at work, I notice a great positive difference.
pristiq is a newer drug with less side affects. ABILIFY is also a newer drug. when you stop takeing anti deppresants you can start suffering from extream greif at a later date, haveing unknow crying fits. and that there is no point to life.
Clubs are good. If you find yourself alone at school just look open to people that way they're not afraid to approach you and initiate a conversation. That works for me sometimes. I don't understand the meds thing mainly because I haven't taken them before.
if you start an SSRI anti-depressant don't stop taking it abruptly or you might experience brain shocks or brain zaps. very unpleasent. Hopefully your not taking Paxil.
Hi. This is my first video watching yours. I can completely relate to your experience of depression and the varying "camps", such as anti-psych, biopsych, etc. The truth is it is not so black and white, and I have a feeling you know that. From what I have experienced the drugs are much more trouble than they are worth and in end for me was so worth it to go off. It is something I would suggest, but the choice is yours. Best of luck, mate.
Hey QB! Thanks for your video 'on meds'. I believe that there will allways be pro's and con's involved in the decision. The usefullness of a medication is definately affected by a variety of factors. Habbits like exercise and also the involvment in activities that build confidence are extreamly usefull in combating depression and or anxiety.
All I can say to you man is this: mental illness is a myth. By myth, I do not mean they your feeling down etc is a myth, as in lie. I mean that IF you were to ask your doctor for an actual medical test to prove you have a mental 'illness' he/she nor can anyone else do this
cont)) So what I am about is exploring this, and also exploring how much the pharmaceutical industry is making , what with them claiming that nearly every human emotion is a disorder that needs drugs. THAT I am really interested in
And that these drugs, although you claim they have helped, this is not so for others.
They ARE toxic, and millions of children are being diagnosed with 'ADHD' etc in the schools--mo money for Pharma
Hey Pat - Glad to hear you're feeling well! I recommend meds to anyone who shows signs of depression. I figure they can start on them and if it doesn't work out then they can wean off of them. BTW- Anyone taking meds should wean off of them and not just stop taking them, a sudden surge of depression can be fatal. Well if you start feeling depressed again be sure to talk to your doctor, they may need to increase the dose. Take Care :)
im with you bro...used to think meds were a cop out...but they have helped me so much...when you have nothing to lose as we did you realise how beneficial meds are...good on ya bro
I think people should try supplements first BUT prescription medication may be warranted and there is NOTHING wrong with taking it if NEEDED!
A diabetic sometimes cant just eat well and not take insulin. Sometimes insulin is NEEDED to correct a biological imbalance. Most of us work very hard on our depression/anxiety but need that "insulin." It's not a will-power thing (the brain is a part of the body too.. it isn't magical). It may be a biochemical imbalance.
That's great that your doing better, The meds are there to help you get through your daily life" There will be a time when you feel you can handle getting through the day without your meds and that's something you and the psychiatrist can talk about, I tried getting off a few times but I'm not ready to handle being without them yet, I know what you go through and what a task it is to get through the day, I wish you well Gos Bless you and take care.
Good man, at least your doing good, i seem a lot less depressed lately, but i havent really done much socially in a long time. as cbtodacb would say, Power to the SA crew!

meds work in the short term . The long term they will mess you up bad. Withdrawal off of SSRi's is brutal.

So which meds are you taking? Any problems with libido, which seems to be an issue with most anti-depressants?
