  • idk y yall complaining about orozco he's better than any right back yall have stupid and he look more like a soccer player than any other players on the team

  • Why is Michael Orozco on the team? I mean really, can't we come up with a player to better represent the USA? Someone with a modicum of self control. They should ban Orozco from all future national play for throwing that elbow. Way to represent the country on the world stage, Mike. Really, classsy move. Could you be any less professional?

  • i hear you. not all the teams in this tournament dont have all their stars. argentina has a few stars and so does brazil, but not all their super stars,if the us knew they had to win, why didnt they have donavon, ching, bocanegra, beasley, even though i dont think they are great players but, thats just the way soccer is, argentina didnt have tevez, brazil didnt have kaka and so on. im hopin brazil, argentina, italy, netherlands to take the top four.

  • Well he DOES play for a Mexican team....JK :P although that might have been what they tought him....geuss we'll never really know..

  • you cant say that you could tell it was intentional from the view of the camera, id love to see the reverse angle, so if youve somehow found that, please share.

  • I saw it as being clearly intentional. (I think we all saw the same pool angle)

I've played soccer for some 30 plus years, and from the time I started, I was always coached to be in control of my body at all times. It's inexcusable behavior to lose self control like that.

I'm actually more frustrated by Michael's actions than by us getting knocked out.

Anyway, at least we can still root the womens team to gold.

  • And now that I think about it, maybe it was partly due to lax coaching. Freddie Adu and Bradley were suspended for the game for red cards.

It makes me question the discipline level of the national team.

Maybe that's a bit of a harsh judgment but, I always felt a team is a reflection of the coach.

  • the women's team is better any way. not just with skills but their personalities are better too, the men are all arrogant with nothing to back it up. go us wnt!!

  • Oh.. and don't misunderstand me right?... your team is talented.. I referred to our team who go to China as twice European Champions (in 2006 and 2007)

If our goalie wouldn't have been Vermeer it would have ended 2-4 for the US

  • Respect for your US soccer team...we (Oranges) just managed to sneak a 2-2 draw this afternoon... Football is not just talent but there's a great deal of motivation and sportmanship involved too and your US olympic soccer team has both.. good luck against Nigeria now

  • hell yeah, good luck to you guys too.

i was disappointed to see NED fall in the eurocup after such a promising group stage.

  • i think it was the socks....lol they won with the blue... lost with the orange... :P jk but they didnt even look like the same team after the group stage, they weren't attacking near as much as the aggressive style they had in the group

  • To any body who was the strikers for the US in this game Japan vs USA

  • McBride played the first 75 or so and Jozy came on for him

  • any news on Donavon and Beasly

  • the Olympics are a under 23 tourney with 3 overage players(McBride, Parkhurst, Guzan) allowed to participate and Donovan and Beasley weren't selected..plus with World Cup Qualifying starting on the 20th they are probably going to be used for that and if they were in the Olympics they would not be able to play in the qualifiers

  • Good they didn't play then because we need those guys for the world cup that is the real competition. I just hope they play much better with beasly on the team plus with other talents that they already have. I still wish Eddie Pope was there.

  • Jozy came in for Rogers

  • An Altidore-McBride-Adu trio sounds so dangerous. Of course Nowak is going to have to make some lineup changes but USA is going to need to do a hell of a job if they want to walk away with 3 points against the Dutch. They could definitely walk away with a tie but a win would clinch their spot in the Quarters.

  • glad we won, but we didnt deserve too. Japans their attacking front was not contained well.

  • japan are a chump team they should have won

  • I'm so stoked that we won.

Heck yes, I love Brian McBride.

But Ryan Babel and the Dutch are gonna be tough.

I'm gonna say it'll be a draw, I'm just such a BIG Liverpool fan.

  • can't wait to see them face netherlands tommorow

  • Awesome. U-S-A!

  • USA!!!

  • stayed up til 4 am watching this match. In all honesty Japan played with more pace and fluidity but we pulled it out and now are top of the group 1 step from the quarters. I say Jozy needs to be in there from the outset and Maurice Edu was man of the match in a different position but he looked all the player he can be. USA ALL THE WAY!

  • Edu almost gave up 2 PKs late in the game, other than that he was perfect as could be.Adu couldnt get a call all game.

    NEXT VICTIM, THE DUTCH

    BRING IT ON, U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A

  • As a US fan, I'm sorry to say that Japan were the better side in this match. If we nearly got outclassed by the Japanese, then the Dutch will punish us even more (I hope that's not the case though). And remember, these Dutch players have won 2 U21 European championships in a row... not Italy, not Germany, but Holland.

  • Fan my ass if you were a fan you wouldn't have this negative outlook (even if there is truth in it) you gotta bleed red white and blue...or go pose as some other country's fan

  • Yes, because negativity is only counterproductive... there IS such a thing as constructive criticism. It's ridiculous how many people think that we'll make short work of the Dutch. Have you ever heard of Ryan Babel? Royston Drenthe? Greater attacking players than the US has at its disposal. Geez, it's not like I'm hoping the US will lose like those plastic Italians during the World Cup. I'm just saying that the Dutch will be a far tougher opponent than the Japanese.

  • well uh... we had them right where we wanted them and they got a goal in stoppage time, so... you can go pose for another nation as well.

  • i was more impressed with Wynne than Edu in this game actually. Edu made some sloppy mistakes that almost cost us dearly. Edu is still a great player, i just don't think it was his best game. Actually it wasn't a great game for any of the team, IMO. we were lucky to get by, so hopefully they're feeling confident now after a win and will play better in the next game. GO USA!

  • what we need is latin football players on the national team...

and see how much better we would get...

  • lol yeah right! how many times out of the past few years have we beaten the Mexian National team?

  • Mexican* (my keys are sticking)

  • Michael Orozco is a Left back from San Luis in Mexico's first division.

  • Michael Orozco is a starting CB for San Luis who Novak plays out of position as he does with other players.

  • i wished i could of seen the match, but i had class today.

  • hey a wins a win i would rather win ugly than lose pretty go USA!!!!

  • Tough game, but ill take the 1-0 win.

    GOLD MEDAL HERE WE COME!!

  • USA all the way!

  • USA! USA!
