When you look at the audience, I can't believe they used those cheap chairs that you can find anywhere in a waiting room somewhere. These folks deserved much better treatment than that. Oh well, they did the best for that time.
The Grammys used to be the event that everybody waited to see in those days.There was real talent going on in those days. Nowadays I wouldn't waste my time watching it. Who wants to see thugs and no talented artists get awards that they don't deserve. But I guess they have to give the awards to somebody because they don't have any real talent to choose from anymore. The only time that I will watch the Grammys now is if they are paying tribute to an old school veteran. And I only watch that part.
@tommiexander well there were tons of better artist back then who were shunned from the grammy´s - the grammy´s were just as mainstream back then - highly conservative and those who didn´t fit a certain criteria were not nominated - at least they have categories today for the artists who do not get airplay - also certain artist get rewarded all the time while others don´t. Aretha has like 20 grammys, Pink Floyd has Zero. Many people thought this was crap back in the day.
Just a mention... that's not Dionne Warwick who was nominated, but her crazy talented late sister Dee Dee Warwick. I believe the song she was nominated for, that they couldn't spit out was, "She Don't Know (She Kept On Talking)"
Dionne is not nominated, but in the audience sitting in front of Nina Simone.
