I used to watch the TV broadcasts of Parliament when I was little, way back in 2000-2001. Some of those I remember were solid gold, and one particular incident resulted in the Member for Melbourne being removed from the chamber.
@CanberraUser No only two people in the last 150 yrs have broken decorum while in session. The first in 1861 a senator beat another senator with a cane until he was unconscious. The other one was when a congressman yelled at Obama "You Lie" when he was talking about giving amnesty to illegal immigrants.
I'm sick to death of Hockey's smarmy, smirky parliamentary & media style. What a mindless bore he is - a real negative for an Opposition who is so desperately trying to present itself as a credible alternative govt. Hockey just gets bigger in size & more fat & bloated all the time. He's looking more like Monty Python's Mr Creosote character every day. Beware, fellow MPs .. he'll bloat up & blow up before long .. just like Mr Creosote did. Either that, or he'll have a stroke / heart attack.
@delinx04 this reminds me of my old Science teacher, his face would go red when he got pissed, and we all loved turning simple Science classes into free entertainment for the adjoining home ec block...
as opposed to not spending money at all ala john howards' 11 yrs of lazy, no risk governing? if he had actually spent money in the 1st place the labor party wouldnt be trying to move the country into the 21st century like howard should have done. But thats just not in their ambitions, and never will be. They should never be leading this country and if we had smart people that would be the case.
@TMAN295 so your saying not spending money is a good thing? your a muppet mate, people like you are happy for nothing to change, meanwhile the rest of the world moves on while this country is stuck in the dark ages.
as opposed to not spending money at all ala john howards' 11 yrs of lazy, no risk governing? if he had actually spent money in the 1st place the labor party wouldnt be trying to move the country into the 21st century like howard should have done.
@dunphish true but I've seen the Parliament unlike here, in Australia the PM and The Opposition Leader at least try to pretend to like each other unlike say Jack Layton (I know he isn't the Opposition Leader but my point still stands) who makes it perfectly clear that he hates Harper's guts and hopes he loses horribly in the election
Harry Jenkins is about to explode as he draws breath to calm himself down at 2:50.He doesn't release that breath until 2:56! In that time he must've been thinking "You know, there are days when I really hate this job" lol
And to think Joe Hockey is one of the decent ones in this pack of fucktards called the "Liberal" party. What a joke. If they had have stuck with Turnbull, they would have had a chance. Dicks.
the only people that will vote for labor next election are the hard heads who would still vote labor even if they tried to pass a law to have every family's first child killed. you would have to be an ignorant muppet or simply commit treason to vote for them next election.
Joe Hockey looks like a naughty schoolboy here. Surely this was not allowed simply because it was not funny enough. It is funnier when Labour does this stuff, and more relevant. They are a better government - and funnier too!
@ugboy1 While we may be better off then most, we're still in a deficit. What people (or more specifically, the Government) don't get is people don't give two shits about a negligible deficit if the money is being spent wisely.
That's the primary debate for the Liberals at the moment: That Labor HASN'T spent the money wisely.
@JOJOsSTARR look at the shadow treasurer making a fool of himself , and look at the former oposition leader, deputy leader of the oposition and leader of the nationals assisting him with the stupid poster .this is obvisouly against the rules of parliment they should of been kicked out. But goes to show just how childish the coalition are !
Carrying on like clowns I see, whilst the frontline troops of our police forces, fire services, ambulance services and ADF troops are putting their lives on the line. It's good to know that despite this behaviour they do appreciate the service and protection provided by the troops of said organizations.
Nothing wrong with holding up a little card like he was doing to start with, but having someone else get up and start expanding the card like that is just ridiculous and takes attention away from the point he's trying to make.
the coalition never said they would run up the same debt. they said the deficit would be at least 25 billion less this year. and would've reached surplus again much quicker, coming from a much closer starting point.
Here's an interesting fact. This deficit is 4.9% of GDP. Spending has increased by 4.6% of GDP since the last Costello budget. and yer Labor claims it was caused by lost revenue.
the member for sturt is a knob. He's always getting up on "points of order" over trivial shit. Having said that, this was probably one of the greatest moments I've witnessed in question time.
O wata LMAO australian politics is....henry jenkins or ken jenkins the speaker is an idiot he cant decide on anything... nd he always get names wrong
ive been watchin question time lately all it is ..is the opposition asking questions on the debt..the government not actually answering the question..nd all the government does is go on bout they're nation building shit
