To me they were great all the way through Nimrod--they simply wrote good old songs, love songs even. Then Warning they were questioning their identity, and so then they sold out, really, by hiring on Rick Rubin, started going all political, hanging out with fucking U2 for God's sake, etc.

Warning was awesome, but not as good as Nimrod. And while American Idiot is alright, it can't hold a candle to Nimrod in my honest opinion.

Used to love Greed Day back in their Smoothed Out Slappy days all the way to Nimrod but... Warning was rubbish and attracted a bunch of teeny boppers and all the origonal fans just shrugged and fucked off.

Eh? Most hardcore fans from the Slappy days started hating them when Dookie came out. That's when they got all the teeny bopper fans.

Warning was a commercial flop. But it was a critical success. I think you're mistaken. A lot of the teeny boppers lost interest when Warning came out. Nimrod, Dookie, Insomniac were all the albums that attracted MTV and the industry.
